Here are my Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks for April 3rd

P: Jose Quintana ($5,600): Coming off a solid 2013, Quintana should start off 2014 with a bang.  The lefty faces a weak Twins lineup that relies heavily on Joe Mauer.  Along with a fair amount of strikeouts, Minnesota offers very little power.  The White Sox are looking to sweep and Quintana should be able to hold the Twins down and get the win.

C: Yadier Molina ($3,600):  The Cardinals catcher has a great matchup with Home Bailey tonight. In his career he is 8/25 against Bailey with 2 HR, 3 RBI and just 1 strikeout.  Those are great numbers for his fantasy value as he is likely to be a positive force.  He also had a huge opening day going 2/4 with a homerun so confidence in Molina should be high.

1B: Miguel Cabrera ($5,100): It’s really hard to ever pick against Cabrera, but today should be even better.  The Tigers are facing Yordano Ventura of the Royals who only threw 15.1 innings last year.  Miggy is only 1/7 to start the year which means he is due for a monster night against the Royals.

2B: Brian Dozier ($3,000): One of the few Twins who does do well against lefties is Dozier.  The Twins leadoff man has a career .297 average against lefties as opposed to just .221 against righties.  Being the leadoff hitter means he should get more at bats as well and for a low price you won’t likely find a better option than Dozier today.

3B: Pedro Alvarez ($3,600): Alvarez is a bit of a gamble each day as he is just as likely to hit 2 HR in a game as he is to strikeout 4 times.  That being said, tonight could easily be one of those 2 HR games as he faces righty Jason Hammel.  In his career Alvarez has 74 HR against RHP as opposed to just 12 against LHP.   Hammel is also not a huge strikeout guy so that will help avoid any chance of a disastrous night for Alvarez.

SS: Jed Lowrie ($3,200): Lowrie is not a huge power threat, with just 15 HR last year, but he is one of the most consistent options at shortstop.  Yesterday was a great example as he went 2/3 with an RBI and a run scored in the first game of the doubleheader.  He is about the cheapest number three hitter you will find in the game which helps with scoring and RBI chances.

OF: Giancarlo Stanton ($4,600): Much like Alvarez, Stanton is prone to big nights in both directions.  He has been solid to start this season and found the seats last night with his first HR of 2014.  That could change tonight against Franklin Morales who was a reliever last year but has now moved into the Rockies rotation.  Stanton also feasts on RHP, with a .524 career SLG against them.

OF: Andrew McCutchen ($4,600): Last year’s NL MVP is a player who always has the ability to have a monster fantasy night. With his combination of speed and power he can contribute across the board.  After a season of 21 HR, 84 RBI’s and 27 steals it only seems like a matter of time until he gets on a roll.  Like Alvarez he has a matchup against Hammel who should not scare anyone away with his near 5 ERA last year.

OF: Austin Jackson ($3,200): No longer being the Tigers leadoff hitter seems like it would be a bad thing, however Jackson is now behind the power of Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera.  What that likely means is less runs scored, however he should see a significant rise in RBI.  Stacking Jackson with Cabrera could lead to big things against a young pitcher who is likely to give up a few runs today.
