Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (5/1)

Please check the posted lineups and weather forecasts for each game before finalizing your lineup.

SP: Henderson Alvarez ($7,000): Alvarez may not be the talent that Jose Fernandez or Nathan Eovaldi are, but considering how the Braves batters currently look he should still be a great play today.  The Braves are in the bottom third in runs scored and top 10 in strikeouts which is a great thing for a DFS pitcher.  Alvarez comes into tonight with a solid 2.73 ERA and 18 strikeouts on the season.  The only knock on him is that it may be tough to get a win against red hot Ervin Santana.

C: Drew Butera ($2,300): If Butera gets the start in the afternoon game he is my punt play of the day.  Not only is he getting a chance to show his former team they made a mistake trading him, but he also gets to face Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey comes into the game with an atrocious 7.32 ERA and just 8 strikeouts on the year which means only good things for Butera.

1B: Justin Morneau ($4,000): Along with Dodgers, I am also stacking Rockies hitters tonight.  Bartolo Colon has not been great this year and this game should be one of the highest scoring of the night.  The left handed Morneau has had a reemergence with Colorado as he is hitting well over .300 along with 6 homeruns and 22 RBI.  The one big risk tonight is that he is career 0-11 against Colon, if you can overlook that fact, he should be a solid play tonight.

2B: Dee Gordon ($3,400):  As we mentioned before, the Dodgers face off against Pelfrey today and make for a great stack option.  Not only should Gordon get on base this afternoon but he seems likely to boost his already stellar 13 stolen bases in this one.

mlb-fantasy-baseball-advice-troy-tulowitzkiSS: Troy Tulowitzki ($5,200): The second Colorado player on the list is Tulowitzki who is in the midst of epic fantasy run.  He has homeruns in five of his last eight games and also is now leading the majors in runs scored.  He will cost you a big part of your salary cap, but his upside might simply be too high to ignore.

3B: David Wright ($3,500): As his price indicates, Wright has struggled a bit this year.  He has only one homerun thus far but does have a respectable 15 RBI.  Wright should be able to get back on track at home tonight against Juan Nicasio who has a lowly 5.27 ERA this season.

OF: Christian Yelich ($2,700): In what should be a pitcher’s duel, the only bat I am targeting is the Marlins leadoff man.  Yelich hit his first homerun of the year last night and has at least 1 run scored and driven in in two straight outings.  Ervin Santana has certainly been tough this year but if he can find the base paths, Yelich could be a candidate to steal a few bases as well.

OF: Chris Colabello ($3,300):  As we move into May, Colabello is still coming in second in the AL in RBI to Jose Abreu.  Despite an average over .300 and 27 RBI, Colabello’s price still has not risen all that much.  He has a tough matchup against Dan Haren, however his season stats and price tag make him hard to avoid tonight.

OF: Matt Joyce ($3,300): Joyce has had a great season thus far with great average, runs and RBI.  In the second game of today’s doubleheader, Felix Doubront will take the mound with a 6.00 ERA and 30 hits allowed in 24 innings.  The left on left matchup is not ideal, however Joyce hits in the 3-hole in a lineup that should score a lot of runs tonight.
