MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/14/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Juan Soto - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on August 14, 2024. Mike Barner's MLB DFS sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

There will be no shortage of action Wednesday with 15 games on the schedule. There are some early start times, but there are still 11 games that will make up the main evening slates on DraftKings and FanDuel.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/14/2024, with the slate starting at 6:35 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bryan Woo at DET ($9,000 DraftKings; $9,400 FanDuel)

Talk about an unexpected performance. The Tigers, who have the sixth-worst OPS in baseball, tagged George Kirby for 11 runs Tuesday. Kirby had allowed a total of seven earned runs over his previous four starts. Despite the Tigers firing on all cylinders in that game, Woo might still be too good to resist. He faced the Tigers in his last start, allowing three runs and recording seven strikeouts over 6.2 innings. For the season, he has a sparkling 0.88 WHIP.

Robbie Ray vs. ATL ($8,600 DraftKings; $10,100 FanDuel)

Ray took advantage of a favorable matchup against the Tigers in his last outing, allowing two runs and recording seven strikeouts over six innings. He has logged 20.1 innings since being activated from the injured list, generating a total of 28 strikeouts. His ability to miss bats makes him an appealing option against the Braves, who have struck out the sixth-most times in baseball.

David Peterson vs. OAK ($7,300 DraftKings; $8,800 FanDuel)

Peterson doesn’t exactly instill a ton of confidence with his 10.6% walk rate and 1.42 WHIP. However, the Athletics are still a favorable matchup since they have scored the sixth-fewest runs and struck out the fourth-most times in baseball. For those looking to take a chance on a starter with a cheaper salary, Peterson is a viable tournament option.

Also consider: Ronel Blanco at TB, Jose Berrios at LAA

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Freddie Freeman – 1B, LAD vs. Frankie Montas ($5,100 DK; $3,700 FD)

The Dodgers are likely going to be a popular team to stack with Montas, who will be starting for the Brewers. He has a 5.10 ERA that has been backed by a 4.92 FIP. His strikeout rate is just 19.8%, and his inability to miss bats has contributed to his 1.46 WHIP. Left-handed hitters have a .377 wOBA against him, making Freeman a top option to build any Dodgers’ stack around.

Austin Wells – C, NYY vs. Davis Martin ($3,900 DK; $2,900 FD)

Martin pitched well in his last start, logging six shutout innings against the Athletics in Oakland. However, facing the Yankees is an entirely different matter. Davis has shown a lack of control, issuing seven walks over 12.1 innings in the majors. The Yankees have drawn the most walks in baseball, so Wells could have plenty of traffic on base ahead of him. With Wells hitting either fourth or fifth in the lineup for the Yankees lately, he is 24-for-70 (.343) with two home runs and four doubles over his last 18 games.

Gavin Lux – 2B, LAD vs. Frankie Montas ($3,200 DK; $2,700 FD)

Lux doesn’t bring much power to the plate. He has just a .121 ISO for the season. However, he is 29-for-84 (.345) with a .411 OBP over his last 27 games. Given the struggles that Montas has had versus left-hander hitters, Lux has the potential to provide value.

Also consider: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Francisco Lindor, Ernie Clement

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Juan Soto – OF, NYY vs. Davis Martin ($6,400 DK; $4,400 FD)

After slugging three home runs Tuesday, Soto could produce another monster stat line. So could Aaron Judge, but teams have been walking him a lot down the stretch. With Judge batting behind him, Soto has generated a 1.237 OPS over his last 28 games.

James Wood – OF, WAS vs. Dean Kremer ($4,800 DK; $3,200 FD)

Wood has made an immediate impact with the Nationals, posting a .358 wOBA over 37 games. His 30.6% strikeout rate is certainly a concern, but that might not be an issue versus Kremer. Kremer only has a 22.0% strikeout rate this season and a 20.3% strikeout rate for his career. With Kremer posting a 4.92 FIP and allowing 1.6 HR/9 this year, Wood has a favorable opportunity to remain productive.

Alex Call – OF, WAS vs. Dean Kremer ($3,200 DK; $3,000 FD)

Call has shown to have a good eye at the plate, registering an 11.5% walk rate and a 19.2% strikeout rate this year. That has helped him hit 21-for-51 (.412) over his last 14 games. He only has a career .688 OPS, so he’s likely going to cool off sooner rather than later. However, with his cheap salary and the underwhelming Kremer on the mound for the Orioles, Call is at least worth considering.

Also consider: Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez, Alec Burleson
