Elly De La Cruz - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on July 31, 2024. Mike Barner's MLB DFS sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

The majority of games across baseball Wednesday have early start times. That leaves us with just five games to choose players from for the main evening slates on DraftKings and FanDuel.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 7/31/2024, with the slate starting at 7:10 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Logan Webb vs. OAK ($8,600 DraftKings; $9,000 FanDuel)

It has been a rough stretch for Webb, who has given up 15 runs over 16 innings in his last three starts. Two of them were difficult matchups, one against the Dodgers and one against the Rockies at Coors Field. It’s also worth noting that two of those starts came on the road. This is a better spot for him at home, where he has a 2.99 FIP and a 1.13 WHIP this season.

Clayton Kershaw at SD ($8,200 DraftKings; $8,300 FanDuel)

In his first start of the season, Kershaw threw 72 pitches against the Giants. The result was him giving up two runs and recording six strikeouts across four innings. With the potential for him to surpass 80 pitches in his second start, he could last five innings against the Padres. The Padres only have a .695 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season, so Kershaw is worth considering, even with him likely being on a pitch count.

Kyle Freeland at LAA ($6,000 DraftKings; $7,700 FanDuel)

The Angels are a lineup to attack in DFS. They have the seventh-worst OPS and have scored the fifth-fewest runs in baseball. Freeland was roughed up by the Giants in his last outing, but prior to that, he had allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his previous five starts. He’s worth considering in tournament play.

Also consider: Framber Valdez vs. PIT

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Elly De La Cruz – SS, CIN vs. Kyle Hendricks ($6,200 DK; $4,300 FD)

It has been a disaster of a season for Hendricks, who has a 5.36 FIP and a 1.49 WHIP. He’ll have his hands full with Cruz, who has a .892 OPS against right-handed pitchers this season. He also has a .377 wOBA at home, compared to a .345 wOBA on the road.

Jonathan India – 2B, CIN vs. Kyle Hendricks ($4,400 DK; $3,200 FD)

India has cooled off, hitting 12-for-60 (.200) with just two home runs and three doubles over his last 18 games. However, he did have 11 walks to go along with his 14 strikeouts during that span. He is generally a good contact hitter, posting a 19.5% strikeout rate this season. Hendricks is not an overpowering force at this stage of his career, so India has the potential to provide value with his contact skills.

Jon Singleton – 1B, HOU vs. Jake Woodford ($2,900 DK; $2,500 FD)

After the Pirates traded away Martin Perez on Tuesday, Woodford will get the start Wednesday against the Astros. He had a 1.74 WHIP over 47.2 innings for the Cardinals last season, and he has allowed 10 runs and posted a 2.40 WHIP over two starts with the Pirates this year. The Astros should be a popular team to stack, with Singleton being a potential value option to include in such a stack. Left-handed pitchers have held him to a .215 wOBA this year, but he has a .320 wOBA against righties.

Also consider: Jose Altuve, Isaac Paredes, LaMonte Wade Jr.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez – OF, HOU vs. Jake Woodford ($5,600 DK; $3,700 FD)

Staying with the Astros, Alvarez carries tremendous upside into this favorable matchup against Woodford. Although he hasn’t been able to duplicate his stellar numbers from last year, Alvarez still has a .234 ISO and a .387 wOBA this year. For a player with his power, his 15.5% strikeout rate is very impressive.

Seiya Suzuki – OF, CHC vs. Nick Lodolo ($4,800 DK; $3,300 FD)

Lodolo has a 3.05 FIP and a 0.81 WHIP on the road this season, but he has a 4.59 FIP and a 1.39 WHIP at home. Looking to exploit those splits will be Suzuki, who has followed up his .375 wOBA on the road last season with a .367 wOBA away from Wrigley Field this year. Suzuki also has a career .356 wOBA versus left-handed pitchers.

TJ Friedl – OF, CIN vs. Kyle Hendricks ($4,000 DK; $2,900 FD)

Friedl has been productive in the first two games of this series, hitting 3-for-7 with a home run and five RBI. He loves hitting at home, where he has a career .220 ISO and .374 wOBA. Given his reasonable salary on both sites, this appealing matchup at home might make him too good to pass up.

Also consider: Heliot Ramos, Taylor Ward, Jake Fraley
