MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (4/13/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Yordan Alvarez - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on April 13, 2024. Mike Marteny's MLB DFS sleepers picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

As is the norm with Saturdays anymore, the slate is all over the place. Thankfully, we have a big day of baseball with the main slate at a more conventional time. This is usually only reserved for Sundays, but I'm partial to day baseball on Saturdays as well. I'm not sure if that will help us win more money or not, but it's certainly worth a try!

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/13/2024, with the slate starting at 1:05 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

Just a note that FanDuel has an early-only that starts at the same time as DraftKings and an all-day slate that starts with the first game of the Twins-Tigers double dip. The FanDuel main slate starts at 4:05 EDT. Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Chris Sale at Marlins ($9,400 DraftKings; $9,700 FanDuel)

Sale is the most expensive pitcher of the day on FD and is close on DK. Before you shell out top dollar for Sale, we'll clear a couple of things up first. The Braves let him throw 96 pitches in his last outing, but he is still unlikely to go more than six innings and he doesn't strike out as many hitters as he used to. That said, the Marlins are beyond awful against left-handed pitching.

The Marlins have more at-bats against lefties than righties so far (243 to 226) and are hitting just .173 with two homers. The only silver lining is that they are "only" striking out 22.6% of the time against lefties. Sale has 13 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings in two starts this year. The strikeouts play well on FanDuel and the lack of hits/baserunners will help you pile up the points on DraftKings.

MacKenzie Gore at A's($8,800 DraftKings; $8,000 FanDuel)

Gore isn't a big strikeout guy, but I love the discount on FanDuel anyway. The A's were in a great spot last night and came up duds. Like the Marlins, the A's are horrible against left-handed pitching. They are striking out at a massive 29% rate against southpaws. The A's are hitting just .197 as a team so far this season (.190 against lefties). Attack!

Ronel Blanco vs. Rangers ($7,700 DraftKings; $8.500 FanDuel)

Blanco has allowed just one hit in 15 innings so far this year and he has already faced the Rangers once. This seems too good to be true, especially with his price on DraftKings. The law of averages says that Blanco is going to give up hits (yes, plural) and maybe even a run or three (gasp!). He can't pitch like this forever, but if you want to ride this until he bucks you off, I'm not going to stop you. In fact, I'm going to use him again just in case as a GPP dart.

Also consider: Joe Ryan at DET, Spencer Turnbull vs. PIT

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bobby Witt Jr. - SS, KC vs. Sean Manaea ($6,600 DK; $3,900 FD)

Manaea is racking up the strikeouts this year, but he is also relying heavily on his fastballs (56%). The bad news? Witt has absolutely destroyed fastballs this year. Witt is hitting .500 against fastballs with a 1.5 SLG and 90% hard-hit rate. It's the best against the best today, and I'm siding with the white-hot Witt.

Justin Turner – 1B/3B, TOR vs. Dakota Hudson ($4,000 DK; $3,200 FD)

Turner is off to a fast start, hitting .350 on the season but he has only homered once. That could change today. Dakota Hudson is a bit of a junk baller. He has only thrown fastballs 15% of the time this year. Turner is much better against sinkers and sliders -- pitches that Hudson throws a combined 68% of the time. Those are Turner's two best pitches against, so he should be in for a productive game.

Jose Caballero – SS, TB vs. Logan Webb ($3,000 DK; $3,000 FD)

Hey, if we're paying for Witt, we need some salary relief. Logan Webb is significantly better at home and has been for a couple of years now. It's not a new thing. Webb rarely throws fastballs (only 4% so far this year), but that's fine with Caballero. He excels at hitting changeups and sinkers. I expect some crooked numbers out of Jose today.

Also consider: Alex Kirilloff, Jose Altuve, Salvador Perez

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs. Andrew Heaney ($6,000 DK; $4,500 FD)

Don't shy away from Alvarez just because of the lefty-on-lefty matchup. Yordan smacks lefties and Heaney is prone to home runs. Alvarez is 6-for-16 in his career against Heaney and has already homered off of him this year. Heaney hasn't gotten Alvarez out in 2024. So...maybe he is worth the 6K.

Marcell Ozuna - OF, ATL vs. Max Meyer ($5,000 DK; $3,900 FD)

Ozuna is raking this year, hitting .360 with six homers in just 50 at-bats in 2024. His profile against Max Meyer jumps off the page today. Ozuna obliterates both four-seamers and sliders. Meyer has thrown those two pitches 77.2% of the time so far. Meyer is one of the better prospects that the Marlins have, but he could be in for a rough day against the Braves.

Jarren Duran - OF, BOS vs. Griffin Canning ($4,900 DK; $3,600 FD)

Canning is mostly a fastball/changeup pitcher. Duran fares best against those. He is hitting .353 against four-seamers this year after a .287 clip last year. Duran struggled a bit against changeups last year, but he has clobbered them this year. It's a small sample, but he's not swinging and missing at changeups as much this year. That has led to a .714 average against the pitch this year.

Also consider:  Mike Trout, Michael Conforto, Nelson Velazquez

2. Mets vs. Alec Marsh
