Francisco Lindor - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB DFS Picks, Betting Picks

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on October 16, 2024. Mike Barner's MLB DFS sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

The NLCS is tied at one game apiece heading into Wednesday’s Game 3 between the Mets and Dodgers. This exciting matchup also provides us with another opportunity to play the single-game contests on DraftKings and FanDuel.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 10/16/2024, with the slate beginning at 8:08 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

Good luck, RotoBallers!

Pitchers - MLB DFS Showdown Picks

You can't roster pitchers on FanDuel, just five hitters. But both starting pitchers are in the player pool on DraftKings.

Luis Severino vs. LAD ($11,000 DK; $16,500 DK CPT, NA FD)

Severino has logged six innings in both of his playoff starts for the Mets. After giving up four runs (three earned) against the Brewers, he allowed three runs and recorded seven strikeouts against the Phillies. This game being played at Citi Field works in Severino’s favor. He had a 4.45 FIP and a 1.30 WHIP on the road this season, but he had a 4.00 FIP and a 1.19 WHIP at home.

Walker Buehler at NYM ($10,400 DK; $15,600 DK CPT, NA FD)

It was a disappointing regular season for Buehler, who posted a 5.38 ERA and a 5.54 FIP. One of his biggest problems was allowing 1.9 HR/9. His strikeout rate was also a career-low 18.6%. In his lone start of the playoffs, he was tagged for six runs over five innings by the Padres. Buehler hasn’t given any indications that he’s worth deploying in DFS for this matchup.

Top Hitters - MLB DFS Showdown Picks

Shohei Ohtani – 1B/OF, LAD vs. Luis Severino ($10,000 DK; $15,000 DK CPT, $9,500 FD)

The Mets have been careful with Ohtani, who has been walked three times over the first two games of this series. Still, he is 2-for-7 with one RBI and two runs scored. He is in a bit of a power drought, having gone six straight games without a home run. However, with his combination of speed and power, he can dominate any time he steps onto the field.

Francisco Lindor – SS, NYM vs. Walker Buehler ($9,600 DK; $14,400 DK CPT, $9,000 FD)

Considering how bad Buehler has been, the Mets lineup has the most upside for this game. Their best player continues to be Lindor, who went 2-for-4 with a home run in Game 2. Over his last seven games, he is 8-for-28 (.286) with a .394 OBP, two home runs, and three doubles.

Also consider: Mookie Betts, Pete Alonso

Top Value - MLB DFS Showdown Picks

Starling Marte – OF, NYM vs. Walker Buehler ($6,000 DK; $9,000 DK CPT, $6,000 FD)

Marte was limited to 94 games this season because of injuries. He wasn’t overly productive when he was on the field, posting a .313 wOBA. However, all of that will be forgotten if he steps up in the playoffs. He did just that in Game 2, hitting 3-for-5 with a double. While he struck out at least two times in three of his last five games, that might not be an area of concern for him Wednesday, given the lack of strikeouts that Buehler has generated.

Francisco Alvarez – C, NYM vs. Walker Buehler ($4,400 DK; $6,600 DK CPT, $4,500 FD)

Since Buehler has given up so many home runs this season, targeting Alvarez at his cheap salary could be well worth the risk. In 228 career games, he has launched 37 home runs. He hasn’t hit a home run in the playoffs and is just 1-for-6 in this series, but all it takes is one swing for him to provide significant value at his salary.

Also consider: Jesse Winker, Kike Hernandez
