Latest Updates on Injured NFL Quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Anthony Richardson, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, and Daniel Jones

Injury reports and updates for quarterbacks during the 2024 offseason. Banged-up quarterbacks include Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Anthony Richardson, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, and Daniel Jones.

The 2024 offseason is still in the early stages, but it's time to check on six franchise quarterbacks who suffered major injuries during the 2023 campaign. A franchise missing its quarterback to begin a season can mightily derail its chances to win, creating a massive hole to climb out of.

We have the latest injury updates for Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Anthony Richardson, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, and Daniel Jones below.

Aaron Rodgers Injury Update

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) said on the Joe Rogan podcast that his rehab from a torn Achilles continues to go well five months removed from surgery. "It feels good. I can do everything except sprint at a top speed," Rodgers said.

The Jets designated Rodgers to return from injured reserve late in the regular season, but he wasn't able to complete a miraculous return after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 because of the fact that the Jets were eliminated from postseason contention.

The 40-year-old future Hall of Famer did return to practices to close out the regular season, though, and provided the team with glimpses of how their season could have turned out in 2023 had he stayed healthy. Barring a setback this offseason, Rodgers should be ready to go for training camp and the start of the 2024 campaign.

Kirk Cousins Injury Update

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said the team wants to re-sign impending free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins (Achilles). "I think Kirk Cousins wants to be a Viking, and we're gonna work to make that happen," O'Connell said.

Cousins, who has been encouraged by his progress from a torn right Achilles that he suffered in late October of last year, will be a big offseason topic.

The 35-year-old signal-caller should be ready to go by training camp this summer for whichever team he's playing for, barring a setback in his recovery. Right now, the Vikings feel like the favorites to retain Cousins, but there will surely be a handful of teams angling to outbid Minnesota for his services. For the fantasy picture, Cousins' value would remain the highest if he stays with the Vikings and All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson.

Anthony Richardson Injury Update

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is throwing again after suffering a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in October that required surgery. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft flashed fantasy upside early in his career, averaging 23.1 fantasy points per game through his first three starts.

However, he suffered a concussion and a major shoulder injury before making it to Week 6. The 6-foot-4 signal-caller has elite physical traits, but he'll have to find a way to stay healthy to live up to his potential. With Richardson already throwing in February, he's likely to be one of the first 10 quarterbacks off the board in 2024 fantasy drafts due to his rushing upside.

Joe Burrow Injury Update

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) thinks he can be ready to throw by organized team activities this offseason, but he's not completely sure of his timeline as he recovers from season-ending surgery on his right wrist. The 27-year-old signal-caller had a lost season in 2023, first suffering a calf injury in training camp that kept him out of the preseason, and was responsible for both him and the Bengals offense getting off to a slow start in the regular season.

Burrow's wrist injury caused him to miss the final seven games, and he finished with a career-low 2,309 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions in 10 games. Even if Burrow isn't quite ready to throw by OTAs this spring, he should be fully recovered by the time training camp starts at the end of July.

Deshaun Watson Injury Update

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) is set to begin throwing again in March, according to general manager Andrew Berry. The 28-year-old was placed on season-ending injured reserve following the Week 10 game against the Baltimore Ravens and underwent surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Despite Watson's struggles in 12 games over two years with the franchise (14 touchdowns and nine interceptions), it seems the Browns are committed to rolling into the 2024 campaign with him under center.

"He's worked his tail off in terms of his rehab and recovery," Berry said. "He's in a really good place. We're excited for when the spring hits and we can get him back on the field. He's making really good progress and we're really excited to see that continue."

Watson has limited fantasy upside based on what we've seen over the last few seasons, but his QB22 price tag in early FFPC best ball drafts makes him an intriguing dice roll. (NFL.com)

Daniel Jones Injury Update

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said that quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) started stationary throwing two weeks ago, and the team thinks he could do 7-on-7 work this spring. Jones is currently on track to be ready for the start of training camp this summer. "I have faith in Daniel (Jones) as our starting quarterback," Schoen said.

Despite Jones tearing his ACL last year, the Giants continue to put their faith in him as their starter going into the 2024 season, although they won't hesitate to add a QB in the upcoming NFL Draft if the situation presents itself.

The 27-year-old signed a four-year, $160 million extension before the 2023 season, and looked pretty bad behind an atrocious offensive line last season before his injury. If Jones struggles again early in 2024, the Giants could be looking to move on from him sooner rather than later.
