Kevon Looney is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 23 of the 2022-23 NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 22% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Warriors will (probably) make the playoffs and everybody will be happy and relieved and breathe easy. One of the reasons for that to happen will be, undoubtedly and no matter what they tell you, the presence of big man and oft-forgotten workman Kevon Looney in the middle of it all.
Looney has grown as the season has advanced for one reason or another, be it injuries, other maladies, his own development, etc. Kevon has murdered boards all around the nation starting on March 11 when he pulled down 15 rebounds. He's grabbed 10+ boards in six of his next seven games including his last three matchups played through Friday.
Kevon has also had three dub-dub outings in the past eight days and five games, and his averages from Mar. 11 on sit at 10-11-3-1-1. Seriously. A double-double average stat line with the scarce cats also filled to at least 1+ token each. That's no joke, folks.
Only six players this season are averaging a dub-dub with 3+ dimes to go with that through the full campaign. Obviously, this Looney is not full-season Looney, but there is no reason for him not to keep this run of form up and going ROS. Those six players: Sabonis, Giannis, Embiid, Randle, Jokic, and Vooch. Only Embiid is adding at least 1 SPG and 1 BPG. Sheesh.
