Keston Hiura (2B, MIL) - Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 37% of leagues

ANALYSIS: This may be the last time that Keston Hiura appears on any waiver wire pickups list - because it looks like the Milwaukee Brewers have mercifully ended the Travis Shaw Experience and now Hiura is seemingly up for good. The top prospect in Milwaukee's system, Hiura has done nothing but hit in 2019, regardless of level. He hit in Triple-A to start the season - slashing .333/.408/.698 with 11 home runs and 26 RBI - and when Travis Shaw went down with a wrist injury, Hiura got the call in mid-May. While he didn't set the Show on fire in his first taste of the majors, Hiura's first 70 plate appearances were certainly a success - slashing .281/.333/.531 with five home runs and a .250 ISO.

But when Shaw returned from the IR on June 4th, Hiura returned to the minors. Once back, Hiura took his demotion out on the baseball - hitting eight home runs while posting a .333 ISO, .438 wOBA, and 150 wRC+ over 96 PA. Meanwhile, Shaw spent 58 plate appearances slashing .167/.310/.313 with a 66 wRC+ and a 32.8% K-rate - and the Brewer's finally decided that they didn't want any more cold Shaw at their picnic, demoting him and bringing Hiura back up on June 28th.

With a job now seemingly assured, Hiura needs to be added in all leagues, as there's no reason to believe that he won't keep doing what he's been doing all year - spraying lasers with authority. With second base a relatively weak position this year, grab Hiura while you still can.
