Kenyon Martin Jr. is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 23 of the 2022-23 NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 15% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Not a lot has changed on Kenyon Martin Jr.'s front. It's been the same all year long, in fact. The forward keeps getting more and more games, keeps starting games, keeps developing while stuck in a very putrid context/team gunning for that no. 1 pick, and keeps producing enough goodies for us to keep recommending him as a late WW addition for GMs of deeper leagues.
KJM has scored 10+ points in his three games this week through Friday, including a season-high 31 when he faced the Grizzlies on the first game of a back-to-back set last Wednesday. Martin's prior high was 23 points all the way back on Oct. 23rd and lastly on Mar. 9th.
The Rockets increased Martin's shot diet after the break with the forward attempting around 10+ FGA per game these days and for a month now. He's been fantastic at hitting most of them, too, and that's even considering he's scoring a low-but-nice 0.7 3PM per game. The FG% has stayed up at 69% in the last 16 games (from Feb. 24 on), which is extraordinary.
Martin is the typical wing with minimal floor-stretching chops, though. He scores a bunch of points because he runs the rim and attempts two-point shots more often than not, also crashing the board and getting plenty of rebounds.
Outside of that, though, his impact is limited in all other statistical categories. As a bonus, he doesn't contribute that many assists but he keeps turnovers at bay precisely because of that.
