Pistons guard/forward Josh Jackson is a worthy consideration as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 2 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 10% of leagues
ANALYSIS: At this point into Josh Jackson's pro career we can affirm he's not going to live up to his 4th-overall selection back in 2017 by the Phoenix Suns. 'Zona got tired of playing Jackson by July 2019 and sent him packing to Memphis. Then, Memphis toyed with his eligibility moving him back and forth between the NBA and the G League. Ultimately, Jackson saw his deal expire this past summer and was free to sign with whoever team came calling his name... which happened to be the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons are starting a rebuilding effort this season and it can get even uglier the moment Detroit trades one or both of Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin. When/if that happens, perhaps Jackson gets a starting role for the Pistons and can put on nightly performances such as that he had to kick the season off last Wednesday.
Facing the Wolves, Jackson played a rather good game and made the most of his 28 minutes of playing time. JoJack put up a 19-6-2 line with a steal on top of it while hitting 3 treys on the night. The efficiency was neat shooting 57.1 percent from the floor on 14 FGA, the usage was high (23.9%) for a pine-riding player, and only his five personal fouls limited his outcome. It's soon to label Jackson as a reborn-for-good player, but he couldn't have looked much better in his debut with the Pistons.
