Jorge Soler (OF, KC) - Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 26% of leagues

ANALYSIS: In 2018, Jorge Soler was able to bounce back in a big way from his disastrous first year as a Kansas City Royal, compiling an impressive slash of .265/.354/.466 with nine HR and three SB in the process before his season was cut short. Now, at the age of 27, the former highly-touted prospect came into 2019 with plenty of momentum and has begun to get the ball rolling at the plate. The Cuban native was red-hot during spring training and posted and eye-popping nine XBH (five HR, two 2B) with a .281/.359/.614 slash to boot. While he didn't exactly start the regular season off to the races, he has put together a nice rhythm on offense with an encouraging display of power-hitting prowess, as he has already smacked eight XBH for a .500 slugging percentage over 52 AB.

The Royals may not be picked to be a contending team in 2019, but they have an interesting cast of characters at the top of their batting order. Soler is Kansas City's everyday option in the outfield, and aggressive base-runners Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi paired with the savvy plate approach of veteran Alex Gordon ensures that he will have plenty of opportunities to come to the plate with men on base. You may not be able to count on the ultra-talented Soler for steals or consistency in reaching base, but his ability to hit for power in the advantageous fourth spot in Kansas City's batting order make him a must-own asset.
