Johnathan Rodriguez is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 9 (2024). Target Johnathan Rodriguez as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
ANALYSIS: Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Johnathan Rodriguez has been performing well at Triple-A and was called up to the major leagues on Monday.
Through 43 games with Triple-A Columbus, the 24-year-old has a .276/.389/.449 with seven home runs, 28 RBI, and a 29:47 BB:K ratio.
Last season, the former third-round selection spent time in both Double-A and Triple-A. With Double-A Akron, Rodriguez showcased his elite power with 19 long balls through 88 games with a .512 SLG. Through 47 games at Triple-A last year, he posted a .280/.376/.560 slash line, which is very similar to his production this season.
This is a great sign, as the 16th-ranked prospect in the Cleveland system has yet to hit a roadblock through the higher levels of the minor leagues and is now set to join the Guardians.
Cleveland *has* to give Johnathan Rodríguez a chance soon. I know the strikeouts are there, but this dude has 17-HR/.905-OPS in 81-AAA games. His exit velos are some of the best in MiLB pic.twitter.com/xKgEW0guDe
Rodriguez should have an opportunity to see time in the majors in right or center field, as Will Brennan, Ramon Laureano, and Tyler Freeman have all had moments of inconsistency.
