Jaylen Warren - Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Fantasy Football Picks for Week 1 (2025)

Jaylen Warren - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Jaylen Warren start 'em, sit 'em fantasy football picks for Week 1 of 2025. Should you start or sit Jaylen Warren for fantasy football lineups in Week 1?

BALLER MOVE: Start in 12-team leagues

POSITIONAL VALUE: High-floor RB2

ANALYSIS: On Monday morning, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they extended running back Jaylen Warren to a two-year extension. Warren initially signed a one-year deal earlier in free agency but will now remain in Pittsburgh for the foreseeable future.

However, despite the extension, Warren may not be viewed as the clear RB1 in Pittsburgh for long. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected one of the top running back prospects, Kaleb Johnson, out of Iowa. Johnson will likely replace Najee Harris, who signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers earlier in the spring.

Throughout most of training camp, the Steelers have been easing Johnson into professional action, which has allowed Warren to see time exclusively with the starters and fellow veteran Kenneth Gainwell to slide into the No. 2 option.

In 2024, Warren totaled just over 800 yards from scrimmage operating as the "1B" to Harris.

Fantasy managers should expect Warren to operate as the lead back in their season opener against the Jets. While he may see his workload decrease throughout the season once Johnson becomes established in the offense, for the time being, Warren profiles to be a high-floor RB2, especially in PPR formats, given his ability to make plays in the receiving game.

Despite facing a formidable Jets defense, Warren should be viewed as a high-floor RB2 in PPR formats and a strong flex option in standard leagues.
