Jackson Jobe is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 18 (2024). Target Jackson Jobe as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Stash in dynasty leagues with redraft upside
CALL-UP ETA: August/September
ANALYSIS: The Tigers took a risk in drafting high school right-hander Jackson Jobe with the third-overall pick of the 2021 MLB Draft, but it appears their intuition might pay off sooner than later.
While the 21-year-old has dealt with injuries in his young professional career, he had little trouble on the mound. Following six shutout innings at Double-A to complete his age-20 season in 2023, Jobe has dominated to the tune of a 1.38 ERA alongside a 36% K% across eight starts at Double-A Erie this season, including a 0.56 ERA in three starts since returning from a hamstring injury.
Jackson Jobe spearheads a no-hitter at Double-A!

Sure, the .190 BABIP will rise, and the walks will be elevated. Still, Jobe could see the big leagues sooner than expected, considering the Tigers have starters Casey Mize and Reese Olson on the injured list, veteran Kenta Maeda moved to the bullpen, and a strong chance that the surging Jack Flaherty will be moved prior to the July 30 trade deadline.
With a plethora of opportunities in the big-league rotation, Jobe's dominance could earn him a sooner-than-expected call to the bigs, and fantasy managers will want to be around if/when that happens, even in redraft leagues.
