Jabari Smith Jr. is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 17 of the 2022-23 NBA season.

ANALYSIS: Down, up, and now back down. That's the rookie season of Jabari Smith Jr. in a nutshell, but that also means that he can do it while going through the growing pains as a freshman in a league full of already-grown men. The positive about that, though, is that Smith keeps contributing on all other fronts while currently boasting a low rostership that should help you grab some shares of the young man.
Smith is rostered in just one of every three ESPN leagues these days. That's definitely too few leagues for him to be rostered in. At the end of the day, and while the shooting is down to a horrid 38% from the field since the start of the 2023 calendar year, Smith is still putting up 11+ PPG to go with 7+ RPG, 1.5 APG, and more than 1.0+ BPG nightly.
The rookie has yet to come off the pine one single time, having found a steady starting role in all Rockets games along with fellow big-man Alperen Sengun.
Now, get ready for some fancy numbers going your way courtesy of Jabari Smith's rookie season: the freshman is one of only 17 players averaging 7+ RPG, 1+ APG, and 1+ BPG. Want more? He's one of five players doing that and also scoring 1+ 3PM per game. Not bad for a non-shooting player, is it?
