Gameweek 5 Rankings - Fantasy Premier League Predictions, Tips, and Picks for 2023/24

FPL Gameweek 5 rankings, predictions, tips, and picks for Fantasy Premier League lineups. RotoBaller's EPL fantasy Gameweek 5 rankings for the 2023/24 FPL season.

Welcome to Gameweek 5 of the FPL season, RotoBallers! This is the third year covering FPL on the site, and we are bringing you more coverage than ever before. We will publish the Gameweek Preview, consisting of a Staff Roundtable and our weekly rankings every week. Then, once a month, we will publish our newest article (The Watchlist), a review of the previous month and a look ahead to the upcoming fixtures.

Four gameweeks down, 34 more to go. It's a full slate on Saturday with an early game, five afternoon games, and a nightcap between Newcastle and Brentford. Then Sunday's contests feature Bournemouth-Chelsea and Everton-Arsenal before a Monday night clash at the City Ground between Nottingham Forest and Burnley.

The Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 5 deadline is 6:00 AM EST on Saturday, September 16, for the Wolves-Liverpool game. Also, look out for the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League, Major League Soccer, and UEFA Champions League slate from a DFS and betting perspective.

Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 5 Rankings

Our weekly rankings highlight players who could be worth a punt in your Fantasy Premier League squad. While the rankings will be filled with familiar names, a low-owned player with an easy fixture will rise up the one-week charts. For each gameweek, we will provide our top 15 goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. These can also be applied as DFS rankings for your weekend contests.

Gameweek 4 Fantasy Premier League High Scorers

  • Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker, Liverpool - 8 points
  • Defender: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool - 12 points
  • Midfielder: Son Heung-min, Spurs - 20 points
  • Forward: Erling Haaland, Man City - 20 points

FPL Goalkeepers - Gameweek 5 Rankings

  • The model is heavy on Spurs this week, with Vicaro and Son Heung-min leading their respective positions in Predicted Points. Like their fellow promoted clubs, Sheffield United has not looked dangerous. The defensive system installed at Tottenham allows low xG (expected Goals) shots, and Vicario mops those up. With the best chance at a clean sheet and save points, Vicario should net his managers at least six points.
  • Usually, it's only a top-15 for each positional ranking, but I had to make an exception for Matt Turner. The Forest keeper comes off a five-point effort on the road against Chelsea and now meets Burnley. With a 31 percent chance at a clean sheet, Turner should be played over Jordan Pickford, Andre Onana, and Mark Flekken.

FPL Defenders - Gameweek 5 Rankings

  • Kieran Trippier and Newcastle's fixtures are turning from bad to great over these next four gameweeks, but the England international is already atop the defender rankings. Trippier is a must-have if you have a luxury transfer (or using a Wildcard).
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold seems to be growing into Liverpool 2.0 as the season moves along. He assisted the assist to the assist for an own goal against West Ham and showed spectacular vision with the initial pass. Wolves isn't a significant clean-sheet wipeout threat, and TAA can punish non-managers on both ends of the pitch.

FPL Midfielders - Gameweek 5 Rankings

  • Bruno Fernandes has blanked in three of his four games to start the season, but FPL managers must stay the course. The Portuguese talisman is on penalties and produces some of the best-expected stats in the game. Brighton is a free-flowing, offensive giant as they come to Old Trafford. There will be plenty of goals in this game, and Bruno is bound to be a part of one.
  • It was mentioned in this week's Gameweek 5 Preview, but Bukayo Saka is worth a captaincy shout. Everton is not a good side at the moment, and Arsenal still has 10 points from five games despite not fully hitting the heights of the previous campaign. With Gabriel Jesus returning to the matchday squad, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka should be well on their way to fantastic FPL returns.
Ranking Name Team Opp Pred. Pts. Goal % Assist %

FPL Forwards - Gameweek 5 Rankings

  • Nicholas Jackson is being labeled as this season's version of Darwin Nunez. While the stats back that up, it doesn't mean we should abandon the Chelsea asset in his rookie campaign. The expected numbers are sky-high, and a game against Bournemouth is tempting. I'm giving him one more week on my side, and I hope my patience will be rewarded.
  • Rasmus Højlund made his Premier League debut against Arsenal and should become a regular fixture in the Manchester United starting XI. It's a little early, but I understand the temptation to run with the newest signing at Old Trafford. The Brighton game should feature great attacking football from both sides and give Højlund the chance to open his Premier League goal account.
