ANALYSIS: In a little bit of a puzzling move, the Toronto Blue Jays moved on from infielder Freddy Galvis and put him on waivers after finding no market for him at the trade deadline. The Reds pounced since Galvis was having a good season in Toronto. This season with the Blue Jays he slashed .264/.299/.444 with 18 home runs, 54 RBI and 55 runs over 115 games. In three games (I know, smallest sample size ever) with Cincinnati, he's been great so far. In 10 PA, he is hitting .600, has one home run, two runs, two runs-batted-in, and a ridiculous .628 wOBA to go along with a 295 wRC+.

Looking at a broader picture, his August stats in both Toronto and Cincinnati combined have been certainly good. He's put up a 127 wRC+ while slugging .545 with an OPS of .885, all of them season-high marks. Regression could very well be around the corner, though. His xBA of .242 and xSLG of .360 are way lower than his actual numbers, so he's bound to rebound back.

Although Galvis' numbers will stabilize and decrease over time, his start couldn't have been better with the Reds. He's taken on second-base duties and is expected to hit around the middle-bottom part of the lineup. His RBI numbers will be boosted if he remains there in the Reds' order (he's logged his best wRC+ and wOBA with men on base). You can add him in leagues of 12 teams or more, as he's a viable option for the rest of the season if you have a spot to fill.
