Fantasy Football Injury Reports For Week 2 (Friday Updates): Travis Kelce, Austin Ekeler, Puka Nacua, Mark Andrews, Jerry Jeudy, more

Austin Ekeler - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Fantasy football injury updates and injury reports for RB, WR, TE for Week 2 (2023), as of 9/15, including Travis Kelce, Austin Ekeler, Puka Nacua, Mark Andrews, Jerry Jeudy, and more.

It's only Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season, but there are plenty of key injuries that will affect start-or-sit decisions for fantasy football. This will be a never-ending theme this season, so be ready to keep up with the latest injury headlines. Our injury updates and reports for Week 2 as of Friday, September 15, 2023, will give you the latest updates on key guys.

As always, some players have more "real" risk of missing Week 2 than others, but things change quickly, so it's important to stay up to date. Travis Kelce, Austin Ekeler, Puka Nacua, Mark Andrews, Jerry Jeudy, and more and more are all in danger of missing Week 2. Fantasy managers should be ready to pivot should things go south.

To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news. Let's look at the updates for some wide receivers and see whether they may play in Week 1.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Travis Kelce Injury Update

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (knee) will make his 2023 season debut in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. Kelce suffered a hyperextended knee in last Tuesday's practice and was held out of the Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions last Thursday night as a precaution. He's been limited in practices this week, but apparently he showed the coaching staff enough to gain clearance to play this weekend as the defending Super Bowl champions look to get into the win column for the first time.

The 33-year-old could have some limitations in terms of his snap count coming off his knee injury, but now that he's active, his fantasy managers can lock the All-Pro tight end into a starting lineup spot for Week 2.

Austin Ekeler Injury Update

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (ankle) is now listed as doubtful for the team's Week 2 matchup against the Titans. The veteran back was unable to practice all week and trending toward not suiting up on Sunday afternoon.

Joshua Kelley saw one target and 16 carries while Ekeler was healthy last week, so he should see plenty of opportunities this time around. Kelley is a high-end RB2 and borderline RB1 based on the volume and efficiency that he flashed last week against the Dolphins.

Puka Nacua Injury Update

Los Angeles Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua (oblique) will be limited in practice on Friday and listed as questionable to play in the Week 2 contest on Sunday against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers and their tough defense. However, the Rams believe he'll get the green light to play this weekend. Nacua was the most popular waiver-wire pickup after Week 1 of the season because of the fact that Cooper Kupp (hamstring) is on Injured Reserve and that the 22-year-old Nacua caught 10 of a whopping 15 targets for 119 yards in his NFL debut in the Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy managers should expect some regression immediately from those numbers this weekend if Nacua plays, but he's on the WR4/flex radar now if he's able to suit up. If he's inactive, Van Jefferson and Tutu Atwell will have expanded roles in the passing game on Sunday.

Mark Andrews Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews (quadriceps) was listed as questionable for Week 2 against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals on the team's final injury report for Week 2, but the good news is that he was upgraded to a full practice participant on Friday. The Ravens held the Pro Bowl tight end out of their Week 1 win over the Houston Texans, but it's looking more likely that he'll make his 2023 debut this weekend on the road in Cincinnati.

Fantasy managers will know right away whether the 28-year-old is active, too, as the Ravens play in the early slot this Sunday. If Andrews is active, fantasy managers should lock him into their starting lineups as one of quarterback Lamar Jackson's favorite targets through the air.

DeAndre Hopkins Injury Update

Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) is officially questionable for the Week 2 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. Hopkins suffered the injury in the Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints and did not practice at all this week.

If he plays, he should be locked into fantasy lineups after drawing 13 targets in Week 2. If he's out, Treylon Burks becomes an intriguing flex play against the defense that gave up 466 passing yards to the Miami Dolphins last week.

Jerry Jeudy Injury Update

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) is expected to make his 2023 season debut against the Washington Commanders in Week 2 this Sunday at home. Jeudy is likely to be listed as questionable on the team's final Week 2 injury report on Friday, but the writing was on the wall for Jeudy to make his return when he returned to a full practice on Thursday.

The 24-year-old pass-catcher suffered a hamstring injury near the end of training camp and was held out of the season-opening loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. The fact that he could be on a limited snap count this weekend in a tough defense will make him a somewhat risky WR4/flex for fantasy managers, but Jeudy is the best bet to lead the Broncos wideouts in targets this year if he can stay on the field. His return is bad news for Courtland Sutton's fantasy ceiling in Week 2 and beyond.

Raheem Mostert Injury Update

Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert has been removed from the injury report heading into Week 2. After missing practice on Wednesday due to a knee issue, he was ultimately able to fully participate in the remaining two practices and shed any designations heading into the matchup against the New England Patriots.

Mostert's touchdown last week salvaged an otherwise bad game and he'll now go against a Patriots defense that gave up less than 100 yards and no scores to the Eagles in Week 1. The 31-year-old would be a risky flex play and could be thrown in if any fantasy managers are desperate for running back production.

Brandin Cooks Injury Update

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) will be a game-time decision on Sunday in a Week 2 contest against the visiting New York Jets. Jones added that Cooks doesn't need practice repetitions to be ready to play this weekend after being diagnosed with a sprained MCL this week. With Sunday's Cowboys game coming in the late-afternoon window, the 29-year-old Cooks becomes a pretty risky fantasy play in Week 2.

He wasn't really needed in the season-opening blowout win over the Giants, catching two passes for 22 yards on four targets. If Cooks is out or limited against one of the toughest defenses in the league, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup will have bigger roles and Jalen Tolbert figures to start in the slot for Dallas.

Jakobi Meyers Injury Update

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (concussion) is still in the league's concussion protocol on Friday and is out for Week 2 against the Bills after not practicing all week. Meyers took a hit to the head late in the Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos and has been in the concussion protocol ever since.

It's a tough break for the 26-year-old after he caught both of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's touchdown passes in the season opener. Fantasy managers that were planning on using him in their starting lineups this weekend will now have to pivot. Top wideout Davante Adams should see even more looks, as well as Hunter Renfrow and tight ends Austin Hooper and Michael Mayer.
