Fantasy Basketball Sleepers, Buy/Sell: Rotation Watch and Minute Trends for Week 3

Jakes' fantasy basketball sleepers and buys/sells for Week 3 (2024-2024). He monitors trending minute distribution to find fantasy basketball risers, fallers.

Welcome to the second edition of RotoBaller's NBA Minutes Watch. Solidified depth charts are emerging now that every team is at least five games in. To track the minutes and general direction of each team’s rotation, we’ve charted nearly every player who has played at least five games this season.

When stronger sample sizes develop, the criteria for charting will shift to display a more recent breakdown of each team’s minutes.

For example, in the article later this month, we will track players who played in the five most recent games. This will give us a better understanding of what’s happened and what’s still to come. This early, any assumption for an 82-game season holds little water.

Featured Promo: New Novig users get a $25 purchase match (50% discount up to $25) on your first Novig deposit, and 6 free months of RotoBaller's "Big-4" Premium Pass (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL) which includes exclusive tools for Betting, Props, DFS and more! CLAIM IT NOW

Atlanta Hawks

Buy: Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher

Sell: Clint Capela

The Hawks know their core, but it still leaves plenty of room for youngsters like Keaton Wallace, Zaccharie Risacher, and David Roddy to eat up some opportunities.

Boston Celtics

Buy: Neemias Queta, Payton Pritchard

Sell: Xavier Tillman

The Celtics love their bench, but Xavier Tillman is in a weird spot that forces him to be a hot shooter, which he isn't.

Brooklyn Nets

Buy: Dennis Schröder

Sell: Ben Simmons

Brooklyn is a volatile offense in which Dennis Schroder and Cam Thomas run the show. Ben Simmons is still Ben Simmons.

Charlotte Hornets

Buy: Tre Mann

Sell: Cody Martin

Another young team that allows for plenty of opportunities to go around. Tre Mann should carve himself a larger chunk of usage sooner rather than later and Cody Martin has found his role focusing more on the defensive end.

Chicago Bulls

Buy: Patrick Williams

Sell: Talen Horton-Tucker

Not many people saw the Bulls being hot to start, but their team dynamic flows and no one seems to have a problem with the usage. This should continue.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Buy: Darius Garland, Evan Mobley

Sell: None

Evan Mobley's improvements have catapulted this team up a few tiers, it will be exciting to see where this team is in a couple of months.

Dallas Mavericks

Buy: Luka Doncic

Sell: Daniel Gafford

This team continues to be fueled by Luka Doncic, but Jaden Hardy and Quentin Grimes are sure to make their presence known soon enough.

Denver Nuggets

Buy: Peyton Watson

Sell: None.

With Aaron Gordon being out for some time, Peyton Watson has already single-handedly won the Nuggets a game. He almost lost it too, but that's beside the point.

Detroit Pistons

Buy: Cade Cunningham, Tim Hardaway Jr.

Sell: None.

Pistons already nearing their win total for last season!

Golden State Warriors

Buy: Jonathan Kuminga

Sell: Andrew Wiggins

If Buddy Hield keeps this up we are going to have a serious conversation about this Golden State team. It'still too early to believe anything.

Houston Rockets

Buy: Fred VanVleet

Sell: Cam Whitmore

Fred VanVleet is playing absurd minutes in the backcourt and he's anchoring a lot of this offense simply by being out there.

Indiana Pacers

Buy: Bennedict Mathurin

Sell: Pascal Siakam

This team needs Bennedict Mathurin to find his role as primary scorer for this team because the Pacers offense cannot rely on Pascal Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton to carry them.

Los Angeles Clippers

Buy: Ivica Zubac

Sell: Terance Mann

It's straightforward in terms of where production is coming from. Everyone does what they are supposed to do and it's allowing Ivica Zubac to have some massive games.

Los Angeles Lakers

Buy: Anthony Davis

Sell: LeBron James

LeBron James still has some left in the tank, but it's going to be Anthony Davis putting up another quality season that holds this team together.

Memphis Grizzlies

Buy: Ja Morant

Sell: Marcus Smart

As long as Ja Morant suits up this team dares to be messed with.

Miami Heat

Buy: None.

Sell: Jimmy Butler

The ship will right itself, but aging stars and fading effort aren't a good look right now for the Heat.

Milwaukee Bucks

Buy: Damian Lillard

Sell: Taurean Prince

Similar to the Heat, the Bucks are another team that should be playing well but aren't. We can only assume with the talent on this team that they figure things out.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Buy: Naz Reid

Sell: Joe Ingles

The Timberwolves are destined for a deep playoff run barring injuries. This team will get better with every game.

New Orleans Pelicans

Buy: Brandon Boston Jr.

Sell: Jordan Hawkins

Depending on who is available each night, the way the Pelicans structure their offense it's pretty easy to see how it's funneled.

New York Knicks

Buy: Miles McBride

Sell: Jericho Sims

Karl-Anthony Towns, although not included, has created enough impact in this short period of time that New York will be sure to embrace the new toughness.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Buy: Alex Caruso

Sell: None.

Alex Caruso is coming off the bench and still making a ton of highlight plays on the defensive end that are tilting games in the Thunder's favor. This team is frighteningly good.

Orlando Magic

Buy: Jalen Suggs

Sell: None.

Without Paolo Banchero, the Magic will have to adapt a new identity for their offense and chances are much of that falls on Jalen Suggs' shoulders.

Philadelphia 76ers

Buy: Andre Drummond

Sell: None.

No Joel Embiid means everyone is getting touches and Andre Drummond is feasting again.

Phoenix Suns

Buy: Ryan Dunn

Sell: Tyus Jones

Ryan Dunn has shown that he could be the steal of this year's class and the Suns will appreciate every bit of energy he can bring.

Portland Trail Blazers

Buy: Jerami Grant.

Sell: None.

Super-young team and Jerami Grant is going to do his normal, early-season thing just because that's what he does.

Sacramento Kings

Buy: Keon Ellis

Sell: Trey Lyles

They continue to struggle for defense, but their offense looks just as good as ever.

San Antonio Spurs

Buy: Victor Wembanyama

Sell: Jeremy Sochan

Didn't include Victor Wembanyama here, but Stephon Castle is making a name for himself and a young Spurs core could propel them later in the season.

Toronto Raptors

Buy: Gradey Dick, R.J. Barrett

Sell: None

Tough look for the current state of the Raptors but the shooters are shooting and that's all we can ask for.

Utah Jazz

Buy: Collin Sexton

Sell: None.

Until this team establishes a better defensive core, the offense will just be a high-flying moshpit of whoever is playing decent that night.

Washington Wizards

Buy: Bilal Coulibaly

Sell: None.

Bilal Coulibaly had an incredibly hot start and one bad game versus the Warriors is just a bump in the road.
