Fantasy Basketball Category Streamers for Week 9: Garrison Mathews, JaVale McGee, Kevin Huerter, Cedi Osman

NBA fantasy baseball streamers waiver wire pickups

Week 9 fantasy basketball streamers based on H2H 9-category leagues for the 2021-2022 NBA season. Keith Cork recommends guards, forwards, and centers to target through waivers or free agency in fantasy leagues who may help in specific categories.

More bummer injury news and health and safety protocols issues have made this fantasy season an absolutely dreadful landscape to navigate. Good health is going to do your fantasy team wonders, but if you have some guys out for a while, it's wise to drop them and start streaming! You can still win your league because as much as your team is dealing with injuries and the like, your opponents' are as well. So open up that stream spot on your squad and SNAG THESE GUYS!

The Oklahoma City Thunder only have two games this week, so we'll fade those players. Of the remaining 29 teams, 18 of them have four games! We'll try to hit those as much as possible too, but when you're weighing streamers, the difference between 3 and 4 games isn't huge. Check your league's format, but for the most part, you should be able to pick up a guy that has two games in three days then drop them for a guy who has another two games in three days, for example.

Our staff at RotoBaller has great insight and daily columns on how to improve your squad and tips to make your team successful, so be sure to check them out. Now, let's get prepared for the upcoming week and go win your leagues. All players in this article are rostered at 50 percent or less.

Week 8 Standard 9-Category Leagues

Columns are written based on H2H 9-category standard size leagues:

FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE

JaVale McGee - C - Phoenix Suns (25% rostered)

I know it feels like we're riding the hot hand here, but Deandre Ayton tried to go to practice on Saturday and was sent home due to an illness. That can't be a good sign for Ayton and I seriously wonder if we'll see him in the health and safety protocols soon... Either way, even in a bench role, JaVale McGee is worth a roster spot right now as he's shooting 65.7% from the floor and has such a good rapport with his Phoenix Suns teammates. He just recently said in an interview how easy it was to play center in this system, so look for him to continue his strong play.

Other streamers:

FREE THROW PERCENTAGE

Bones Hyland - PG/SG - Denver Nuggets (4% rostered)

This could be Danny Green for a third week, but Bones Hyland is a stream with upside here as it's very possible he could find his way into more minutes for the 13-13 Denver Nuggets, who may wind up looking toward the next year when Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. are back. He's also potentially better than Monte Morris and Facundo Campazzo for the backup role behind Murray, so there's potential that the Nuggets give him a longer look. He's great for triples and points as well.

Other streamers:

POINTS

Kevin Huerter - SG/SF - Atlanta Hawks (42% rostered)

I was deeply mistaken to drop Kevin Huerter a few weeks ago when he was struggling because over the last two weeks he has averaged 17.6 points per game for the depleted Hawks. Bogdan Bogdanovic, De'Andre Hunter, and Solomon Hill are all out, and Huerter has been playing over 30 minutes a game in six straight games. Don't be shy about scooping him up, but don't expect much outside of threes and points.

Other streamers:

  • Eric Gordon - SG/SF - Houston Rockets (30% rostered)
  • Garrison Mathews- SG/SF - Houston Rockets (47% rostered)
  • Terence Davis - SG/SF - Sacramento Kings (46% rostered)
  • Cody Martin - SG/SF - Charlotte Hornets (40% rostered)
  • Danilo Gallinari - SF/PF - Atlanta Hawks (29% rostered)

THREE-POINTERS

Garrison Mathews - SG/SF - Houston Rockets (47% rostered)

Garrisanity! Trademarked, don't steal it. Without Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr., the Houston Rockets have been accidentally winning games. Oops. Garrison Mathews has been a big part of that, scoring 16.6 points per game over the last two weeks to go with 3.9 three-pointers per game. You should absolutely snap him up right now.

Other streamers:

  • Kevin Huerter - SG/SF - Atlanta Hawks (42% rostered)
  • Malik Beasley - PG/SG - Minnesota Timberwolves (42% rostered)
  • Luke Kennard - SG/SF - Los Angeles Clippers (24% rostered)
  • Cameron Johnson - SF/PF - Phoenix Suns (20% rostered)
  • Jae Crowder - SF/PF - Phoenix Suns (29% rostered)

REBOUNDS

Dewayne Dedmon - C - Miami Heat (29% rostered)

People actually dropped Dewayne Dedmon in droves this past week? Why?! Hope you enjoyed missing out on his 20 points, 12 rebounds, 2 stocks gem on Saturday. Will he put up a stinker or even two stinkers in a row? Yes. But the opportunity is there for him and the Heat seem committed to trotting him out there for 20-25 minutes or more. He had one game where he was pulled, but you just need to ride the storm. Go get him if someone dropped him and you need blocks, field goal percentage, and low-end block production.

Other streamers:

  • Guillermo Hernangomez - C - New Orleans Pelicans (16% rostered)
  • Marvin Bagley III - PF/C - Sacramento Kings (26% rostered)
  • Hassan Whiteside - C - Utah Jazz (21% rostered)
  • JaVale McGee - C - Phoenix Suns (25% rostered)
  • Dwight Howard - C - Los Angeles Lakers (17% rostered)

ASSISTS

Tyus Jones - PG - Memphis Grizzlies (40% rostered)

We thought that Ja Morant might be returning soon, but now that he's entered the health and safety protocols, Tyus Jones is worth a stream for assists for another week. He's averaging 7.1 assists per game over the last two weeks and should be able to keep the foot on the gas for the Grizzlies for just a bit longer.

Other streamers:

  • Joe Ingles - SG/SF/PF - Utah Jazz (37% rostered)
  • Facundo Campazzo- PG - Denver Nuggets (5% rostered)
  • Dennis Smith Jr. - PG - Portland Trail Blazers (39% rostered)
  • Killian Hayes - PG/SG - Detroit Pistons (13% rostered)
  • Patrick Beverley - PG/SG - Minnesota Timberwolves (26% rostered)

STEALS

Cedi Osman - SF/PF - Cleveland Cavaliers (15% rostered)

I am as surprised as you that Cedi Osman is even being considered for this category, but after averaging 2.4 steals per game over the past two weeks, he's now averaging 1.1 per game on the season, which is worthy of a roster spot with all of the other popcorn stats he contributes. Points, threes, and steals are what you're mostly getting with Cedi.

Other streamers:

  • Avery Bradley - SG/SF - Los Angeles Lakers (2% rostered)
  • Herb Jones - SF - New Orleans Pelicans (27% rostered)
  • Cody Martin - SG/SF - Charlotte Hornets (40% rostered)
  • Dorian Finney-Smith - SF/PF - Dallas Mavericks (37% rostered)
  • Danny Green - SG/SF - Philadelphia 76ers (22% rostered)

BLOCKS

Hassan Whiteside - PF/C - Utah Jazz (21% rostered)

Hassan Whiteside has popped up again as he's getting minutes. As long as he can hang onto the 15-20 minute role he's been enjoying over the past few weeks, he's worth a spot for his field goal percentage as well as his output in rebounds and blocks. He's averaging 1.4 blocks per game over the last month.

Other streamers:

  • Isaiah Hartenstein - PF/C - Los Angeles Clippers (8% rostered)
  • Nerlens Noel - PF/C- New York Knicks (42% rostered)
  • Herb Jones - SF - New Orleans Pelicans (27% rostered)
  • JaVale McGee - C - Phoenix Suns (25% rostered)
  • Alperen Sengun - C - Houston Rockets (37% rostered)
