Should I trade for Shane Baz, James Wood, Brooks Lee in fantasy baseball Week 16? Are these players fantasy baseball buy or sell trade targets?
BALLER MOVE: Sell Shane Baz
ANALYSIS: It has been a while since Tampa Bay Rays starter Shane Baz pitched in the majors after he missed the entire 2023 campaign with an elbow injury. However, Baz made his season debut on July 5 and tossed six innings of three-run ball against the Texas Rangers.
The right-hander looked solid in his major league start in almost 24 months, giving up three runs on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts across six solid innings. It was also a great sign to see Baz throw 92 pitches in his first outing and toss at least six innings for the first time since July 3, 2022.

Nonetheless, fantasy managers should be looking to trade Baz before the All-Star break. There's no doubt that the young pitcher will get better as the season goes on. But how much will he actually pitch in 2024? He threw zero innings last year, 40 innings in 2022, and 78 2/3 innings in 2021. As a result, it might be best to trade him away now while his value is this high because the Rays could limit him down the stretch.
BALLER MOVE: Buy James Wood
ANALYSIS: Washington Nationals outfielder James Wood made his MLB debut last week on July 1 and immediately tallied his first hit. Since then, Wood has continued to show his potential atop Washington's lineup, as he has a hit in six of his first eight career games.
His best game at the plate came back on July 6 against the St. Louis Cardinals, when MLB Pipeline's No. 2 overall prospect went 2-for-5 with one double, one home run, and five RBI. That's the type of player Wood is and someone fantasy managers should be looking to trade for.

While Wood has looked solid in his first week in the big leagues, the best is definitely yet to come for the Nationals outfielder. The 21-year-old hit .353 with 10 HRs, 16 doubles, 37 RBI, and 10 stolen bases across 52 Triple-A games this season. So, trade for him now before he really takes off.
BALLER MOVE: Buy Brooks Lee
ANALYSIS: Since being called up on July 3, Minnesota Twins infielder Brooks Lee has already shown his potential in the big leagues. In his first six career games, Lee is 11-for-26 (.458 average) at the plate with one double, one home run, and eight RBI. He has also tallied a hit in each of those contests, including four multi-hit games.
Given the way Lee has looked in the majors so far, he should definitely be a player fantasy managers should be looking to buy. MLB Pipeline's No. 13 overall prospect is an above-average hitter who can get on base at a high level. He just hit .350 with seven HRs, eight doubles, and 26 RBI in the minors this season, and that high average should continue in the big leagues.
