FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (9/17/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Austyn Varney highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 9/17/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Welcome to free money Tuesday! FanDuel knows what's up, as everyone has their balances full after week two of NFL. FanDuel is offering an "enormous" Grand Slam to draw in some of that money and we should see plenty of stupid money in tournaments. As for tonight's slate, it will be a fun one.

We have a game in Coors Field, but also five or six other offenses that are worth considering. As for pitcher, Justin Verlander is on the slate, but he's expensive and you do need to pay for some bats tonight. Let's dive right in and find a top play at each position.

Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @DFSVarney

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Yu Darvish - CHC vs. CIN - $10,400

Yu Darvish has finally looked like the pitcher the Cubs we’re hoping for, and he’s done it for longer than just a couple games. He struck out 14 Padres in his last outing and has his insane strikeout stuff working. He’s given up a combined one earned run over the last three games, and this match-up against the Reds is the easiest one yet. They rank 26th against righties on the season with a team .293 wOBA and 25% strikeout rate. There’s no such thing as safe when it comes to Yu Darvish, but this is as safe as it gets.

Marco Gonzales - SEA @ PIT - $7,300

Gonzales has struggled a bit recently, but those struggles have come in tough match-ups (Astros, Rangers). Gonzales has done good work in games that you’d expect, and he gets another one of those tonight in Pittsburgh. The Pirates are terrible against lefties, ranking 29th in all of baseball with a .282 team wOBA. Gonzales has actually been a reverse splits pitcher, so the tons of righties they’ll pile into the order will actually hurt them. Gonzales is affordable on both sites and a great way to save at pitcher on this slate.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Mitch Garver - MIN vs. CWS (Detwiler) - $3,100

Wilmer Flores - ARI vs. MIA (Smith) - $2,600

Flores is still too cheap and he’s in play any time a lefty is on the mound. For years now, Wilmer Flores has been a platoon hitter. He’s sported a .371 wOBA against lefties while holding onto a putrid .303 against righties. He has a ton of power and it’s all about deploying him in the right match-ups. Caleb Smith is a solid youngster, but he has home run issues when he gets the ball up. He doesn’t have throw it past you stuff, either, which Flores struggles with. He’s affordable on FanDuel and a great play in all formats for upside.

Rafael Devers - BOS vs. SFG (Webb) - $3,600

Devers has finally slowed down a bit, though he’s still sporting a .400 wOBA against righties on the year. His price has come down quite a bit and the Red Sox have a phenomenal match-up with Logan Webb. Webb has been terrible against both sides of the plate, allowing a .355 combined wOBA and a 1.89 HR/9. The Red Sox are at home, where they hit much better. Devers shouldn’t be overly popular and this Red Sox team has a lot of upside against Webb.

Tim Anderson - CWS @ MIN (Perez) - $3,500

Tim Anderson has always been a lot better against lefties, posting a .371 wOBA vs lefties since the start of 2016 to a .308 against righties. The White Sox draw Martin Perez, who’s had huge issues with righty power all season long. He’s been even worse as of late and this White Sox lineup shouldn’t have any issue putting up some early runs. He’s affordable across the board and helps you pay up elsewhere.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Nelson Cruz - MIN vs. CWS (Detwiler) - $3,700

Nelson Cruz is one of the best hitters of all-time against lefties. I know that sounds crazy to say, but this guy has been posting a .400+ wOBA against lefties for well over a decade now. He’s 39 years old and entering his 14th season, but he hasn’t lost a step. On the year, Cruz has posted a .445 wOBA with 14 home runs in just 105 at-bats. Ross Detwiler was sent to the bullpen, but the injury of Lucas Giolito has forced him back into the starting rotation. Look for the Twins to take advantage and take him deep a few times. Cruz is my favorite outfielder, regardless of price.

Jeff McNeil - NYM @ COL (Melville) - $3,700

I’ve purposely ignored Coors Field up to this point, as I could fill the entire article with these guys. Let’s at least touch on it with these Mets. Tim Melville has been beyond bad at home, allowing 10+ runs in just two starts. He’s been worse against lefties and this Mets squad can rake righties. Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto are both in play as top plays on the entire slate. You’ll likely need exposure to this game and these two guys are my favorite overall plays from it. Good luck tonight and please do reach out with any questions!
