FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/5/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Normally I only write about the main slate, but I opted to write about the all day slate here. There are 15 total games, and we have plenty of options to choose from. That means there are multiple ways for lineup construction on this slate.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/5/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me up on Twitter @BalesSJustin.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Aaron Nola - P, vs MIA ($10,000)

Nola has been throwing at an elite level in Philadelphia, where he owns an 8-0 record with a 1.99 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. He also owns a 10.2 K/9 through 68 home innings this season. Nola gets an elite matchup against the Miami Marlins, and he's a -241 favorite in a game set at only 7.5 runs. He can be used in all leagues today.

Jon Lester - P, vs SD ($8,200)

Lester is another pitching option that has thrown extremely well at home this season. Through 11 home starts, he owns a 5-2 record with a 2.97 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP, although he has struggled with a 6.4 K/9. Still, he gets a great matchup against the San Diego Padres, and he's a -200 favorite. Lester isn't the safest option on the slate, but he can be used in tournaments.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Austin Hedges - C/1B, at CHC ($2,800)

Hedges has quietly caught fire over his last 10 games, recording a .323 average with a .742 slugging percentage and a 1.131 OPS over that span. He has flashed power and surprising speed in those games, and he has hit left-handed pitching well. He gets a tough matchup against Jon Lester, but Hedges makes a high upside tournament option.

Rougned Odor - 2B, vs BAL ($4,400)

Odor will likely be the chalk second basemen today, and for good reason. He's hitting .333 with an .821 slugging percentage and a 1.267 OPS over his last 10 games. He features an elite combination of speed and power, and he gets a great matchup against Yefry Ramirez, and Odor can be used in all leagues.

Colin Moran - 3B, vs STL ($2,600)

Moran hasn't been playing well recently, but he's hitting over .300 with some power in Pittsburgh this season. More importantly, he owns 0.101 wOBA and 0.118 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching. Moran is expected to hit fifth in the Pirates lineup, and he gets a decent matchup against Jack Flaherty. Moran can be considered in all leagues for his low price tag.

Tim Beckham - SS, at TEX ($3,300)

Beckham is one of the Orioles that has caught fire recently. He's hitting .350 with a .475 slugging percentage and a .913 OPS over his last 10 games. Beckham is hitting second in the Baltimore lineup, and he gets an elite matchup against Martin Perez. Beckham owns 0.057 wOBA and 0.106 ISO differentials against left-handed pitching. Beckham can be used in all leagues.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Rhys Hoskins - OF, vs MIA ($4,500)

Hoskins has been playing at an elite level for quite some time, and he's hitting .400 with 11 extra-base hits (five home runs) and eight RBIs over his last 10 games. Hoskins has been a more powerful option at home this season, and he owns 0.028 wOBA and 0.071 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching. He's an elite option in all leagues.

Kole Calhoun - OF, at CLE ($3,300)

Calhoun is mispriced on FanDuel. He's hitting .333 with a .744 slugging percentage and a 1.166 OPS over his last 10 games. Overall, he owns eight extra-base hits (four home runs), 11 RBIs, and on steal in those games. He gets a solid matchup against Shane Bieber in a relatively hitter friendly stadium. Calhoun features 0.065 wOBA and 0.119 ISO differentials against right-handed pitching, and he can be used in all leagues.
