FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/12/20): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Troy Klauder highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 8/12/20, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Tonight's main slate on FanDuel includes eight games to choose players from.

We don't have to worry about any Coors Field chalk tonight, but there are still some great lineup stacks available.

In this article, I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the FanDuel main slate on 8/12/2020. Be sure to check out all the MLB player news including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like DraftKings, and other sports too.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Zack Greinke - HOU vs. SFG ($9,800)

There aren't a ton of great starting pitcher options on tonight's main slate, so paying for the top starter in Greinke makes a lot of sense, particularly in cash games. Greinke's certainly worth the investment, as he has a fantastic 2.36 FIP through his first three starts and is a safe bet for a win with the Astros offense taking on Giants starter Trevor Cahill. San Francisco has one of the weakest lineups in the league, with just a .299 wOBA versus right-handed pitching.

Masahiro Tanaka - NYY vs. ATL ($8,300)

Tanaka looked awesome in his last time out against the Rays, striking out five batters in five scoreless innings, allowing just one baserunner. He had remarkable home/away splits last year, with a 3.10 ERA at Yankee Stadium and a 6.05 ERA away from it, so take advantage of this home start against the Braves. While they would normally be a scary lineup to face, the Braves are without Ronald Acuna, Jr. and Ozzie Albies which significantly decreases their firepower.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Pete Alonso - 1B, NYM vs. WAS ($3,400)

While Alonso has started the season cold, there's still very few players that possess his type of power upside. This is a tremendous matchup for Alonso to take advantage of against Anibal Sanchez, who has allowed nine earned runs in 10 1/3 innings this year with a 3.48 HR/9.

Hanser Alberto - 2B, BAL at PHI ($3,000)

Alberto has not stopped hitting out of the Orioles leadoff spot, with a multi-hit day in four of his last five games. He's now batting .310 since the start of 2019 and will have lots of run-scoring opportunities in a hitter-friendly environment in Philadelphia. Opposing starter Zach Eflin had a 4.85 FIP last year with just an 18.3% K-rate, so Alberto's high-contact approach will play well against him.

Yandy Diaz - 3B, TAM @ BOS ($2,500)

The Rays are a stack option to target tonight as they face Zack Godley, who had a 5.97 ERA last year. Diaz will bat somewhere in the top third of Tampa's lineup, which will put him in a great spot to rack up counting stats for an extremely cheap price. While his results haven't been good, Diaz is walking more than he is striking out and has a .371 OBP, so he actually has a much higher floor than it may appear at first glance.

Gleyber Torres - SS, NYY vs. ATL ($2,700)

Torres is just way too cheap at this price, as it's too early into the season to be hitting the panic button. The Braves are forced to start Huascar Ynoa tonight, who had a 5.33 ERA in triple-A last season and has just 5 1/3 big league innings under his belt. The Yankees lineup should crush tonight, and Gleyber is a cheap way to get some exposure.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Austin Meadows - OF, TAM @ BOS ($3,200)

Even if you aren't playing a Rays stack, Meadows is a top standalone option. He's coming off a .922 OPS in 2019 and will be leading off for Tampa Bay against one of the weakest starters on the slate. Other Rays hitters like Brandon Lowe and Ji-Man Choi can be paired with Meadows and Diaz as a very affordable stack.

Michael Brantley - OF, HOU vs. SFG ($3,000)

If you've got the payroll for it, the Astros are another lineup to consider stacking. They're at home against Trevor Cahill, who will be making his first appearance this season after posting a disastrous 5.98 ERA last year. Brantley should see plenty of RBI opportunities out of the cleanup spot.

Andrew McCutchen - OF, PHI vs. BAL ($2,400)

This is a perfect buy-low spot for McCutchen, as it's rare you'll find a leadoff hitter for so cheap. He mashes left-handed pitching, as he had a 129 wRC+ against southpaws last year. Opposing lefty Wade LeBlanc has a 6.91 ERA this season.
