EPL DFS Lineup Picks for DraftKings (12/9/23) - English Premier League Soccer Matchweek 16

Brandon's DraftKings EPL DFS lineup picks for English Premier League Soccer on 12/9/23 (Matchweek 16). His top daily fantasy soccer forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalkeepers.

Welcome back to “The Kick-Off” and welcome to the 23-24 season! Finally, a new season is here and we can welcome back our beloved Futbol. Many clubs have made big moves this offseason to help bolster their cup chances and chances of getting a European spot for next season. Will we see a new title winner this season or will Liverpool and Manchester City continue to battle it out for the top spot?

The top favorite for this weekend is Brighton & Hove Albion -220 vs Burnley FC +550. I will guide you through this four-match slate starting at 10:00 A.M. EST.

If you have any questions on today's slate, bankroll management, GPP strategy, Cash game strategy, or anything else, don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected], via Twitter @df_solutions, or in our Discord chat rooms.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

EPL DFS Goalies

Goalies

Bart Verbruggen - DK $5.7K || FD $12

Opponent - Burnley FC

Unfortunately, on this small slate, you are left with no choice but to pay up for goalie. Out of the four fixtures, Brighton have by far the best defensive matchup going against one of the worst offenses in the top flight, Burnley FC. The Clarets are in the bottom three in all meaningful metrics and throughout their last five domestic away matches they have been outscored four to ten with just one win – 2-1 win at Luton Town –. Yes, expected starter Mark Flekken of Brentford FC is an option, but for only $400 more on DraftKings to get a home favorite, is worth the investment. In Verbruggen’s most recent five domestic fixtures, he has 12 saves and 7 goals conceded.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Onana (DK $5.6K || FD $13), Flekken (DK $5.4K || FD $12)

EPL DFS Forwards

Evan Ferguson - DK $7.2K || FD $19

Opponent - Burnley FC

Ferguson is expected to see ownership north of 20 percent in the majority of contests this Saturday as the striker has the best possible matchup. Burnley FC is in the bottom five in almost all metrics and as mentioned in their last five domestic away fixtures they have been outscored four to ten. Throughout Ferguson’s last five domestic appearances, he has 2 goals, 5 shots, 1 created chance, 5 tackles, 1 clearance and 1 block. His shot volume remains to be desired, however, he is at least converting almost half of his chances. It would be shocking for Ferguson to not have at least a goal or an assist in this meeting.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Garnacho (DK $8K || FD $17), Lewis-Potter (DK $3.9K || FD $11)

EPL DFS Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes - DK $10.6K || FD $23

Opponent - AFC Bournemouth

At midfield there are essentially two options that everyone must consider, do you play Bruno Fernandes or Pascal Groß. For the sake of this article, the former will be the featured playmaker. Fernandes has a much better role for the Red Devils versus Groß with the Seagulls. Throughout the attacking-midfielder’s last five domestic fixtures, he has 1 goal, 1 assist, 12 shots, 12 created chances, 36 crosses, 25 corners, 10 tackles, 4 interceptions and 3 clearances. The Cherries are a bottom three club in all metrics this season, leading to Fernandes having a high ceiling in this meeting.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Gross (DK $10.4K || FD $21), Nørgaard (DK $6.4K || FD $16)

EPL DFS Defenders

Luke Shaw - DK $5.2K || FD $14

Opponent - AFC Bournemouth

It is no secret that Manchester United has been playing much better since Luke Shaw returned from injury. The left-back has been a driving force for the Red Devils over the last few seasons and has a share of the set-pieces too. In three domestic appearances this season, Shaw has 2 shots, 4 created chances, 10 crosses, 7 corners, 2 tackles, 11 clearances and 3 blocks. With the hosts expected to maintain majority of the possession, expect Shaw to have his fair share of chances to influence the attack from the left flank.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Roerslev (DK $3.9K || FD $8), Julio (DK $3.4K || FD $8)

Corner Takers

  • Brighton & Hove Albion: Gross
  • Burnley FC: Brown Hill
  • Manchester United: Fernandes/Shaw
  • AFC Bournemouth: Tavernier/Cook
  • Sheffield United: Hamer
  • Brentford FC: Nørgaard
  • Wolverhampton: Sarabia
  • Nottingham Forest: Gibbs-White

Thanks for reading The Kick-Off. Good luck in all of your contests today!
