NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/21/24

Hopefully, everyone had a safe and festive St. Patrick’s Day and that we have all recovered from by now. The 2023-2024 season is now in the final stretch as teams battle for home ice heading into the Stanley Cup playoffs!!! With multiple big trades this season and teams going all-in, the race for Lord Stanley is on!

Tonight, we have an 11-game slate and one team playing on a back-to-back, the Buffalo Sabres. The currently live top-three highest implied team totals are: Tampa Bay with 4.4, Vancouver with 4.2, and Carolina with 3.8. I will do my best to guide you through this 11-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Jordan Binnington - DK $7.5K || FD $7.8K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Binnington is the unanimous No. 1 tonight at the goalie position. The veteran netminder is the sixth-best goalie in Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60 in the last 10 games. Furthermore, the Ottawa Senators are the top team in Shots Per Goal Per 60 value, setting up Binnington as the top value goalie on the slate. In his last five starts, he has a 2-3 record with a 2.79 Goals Against Average and a 0.918 Save Percentage.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Sorokin (DK $7.6K || FD $7.7K)
  • Saros (DK $7.3K || FD $7.7K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Brayden Point - DK $7.5K || FD $8.8K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

When San Jose enters the slate, you play their opposition. This sets up Brayden Point and the surging top line of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Point is producing above his head right now with six goals, four assists, 11 shots, and two blocked shots in his last five appearances. This is unsustainable by every account; however, playing San Jose, he has the potential to keep this red-hot form going. The Sharks are playing much better defensively, but their goaltending remains a glaring issue. With the hosts projected to concede five or more goals tonight, Point and Co. are expected to have big performances.

J.T. Miller - DK $7.2K || FD $9.1K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Ever since Pius Suter -- down below -- rejoined the second line, Miller has looked much better and so has the second line overall. Within the two-game window since Vancouver shuffled lines, Miller has two assists, eight shots, and two blocked shots. As mentioned time and time again, the goaltending of the Montreal Canadiens is keeping them afloat and if Vancouver can solve expected starter Sam Montembeault early, it is going to be a long night for the visitors.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Bedard (DK $7.6K || FD $7.9K)
  • McTavish (DK $5.3K || FD $5.7K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Anthony Duclair - DK $4.2K || FD $5.3K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Heading back to San Jose for a reunion with an ex team, we have Anthony Duclair. This will be Duclair’s first time back in San Jose since he was traded to Tampa Bay at the trade deadline. In Duclair’s four games with the Lightning since the move, he has three goals, two assists, 10 shots, and one blocked shot. He did not disappoint on Tuesday where he pocketed a goal on three shots in the 5-3 win at Vegas and his salary has only gone up a few hundred dollars on DraftKings, resulting in him being the top value play of the slate once again.

Pius Suter - DK $3.5K || FD $4.8K

Opponent - Montreal Canadiens

Heading back to Vancouver, we have winger Pius Suter. In two games since Suter rejoined the second line, he has six shots and one blocked shot. In the five games prior, he had one goal, one assist, seven shots, and five blocked shots. It is very obvious that he has seen a sudden surge in shot production that will eventually lead to goals and this can be attributed to the uptick in skill level of his linemates. As mentioned, the Canadiens goalies are keeping them in games, and if Suter and the Canucks can solve the net early, it could be a big night.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Vatrano (DK $6.8K || FD $7K)
  • Kurashev (DK $4.8K || FD $5.3K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Cam York - DK $4.6K || FD $5.1K

Opponent - Carolina Hurricanes

Cam York is developing into the perfect two-way defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers. Over his last five appearances, he has five assists, nine shots, and 15 blocked shots. Unfortunately, his offensive upside is capped due to the constant offensive struggles the team encounters, but thanks to his penalty-kill role, he always has the chance of hitting the Blocked Shots Bonus on DraftKings. In a game against the shoot-happy Hurricanes, York is expected to hit the Blocked Shots Bonus, while also registering two shots.

Torey Krug - DK $4.5K || FD $4.9K

Opponent - Ottawa Senators

Krug is hitting a stride right now, producing two assists, 11 shots, and nine blocked shots within his most recent five games. Now, he gets the Ottawa Senators, who are being outscored 21 to 26 in their last 10 home games. For under 5,000 dollars on DraftKings with a top-four role and overseeing the top power play unit, this is a hard spot to pass on.

The Senators are in the bottom 10 in both Scoring Chances Against Per 60 and Shots Against Per 60. However, they are outside the bottom 10 in Goals Against Per 60. In a similar situation to the Canadiens, the Senators are being carried by good goaltending. If Krug and the Blues can figure that out, a big game is on the horizon.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Pulock (DK $4.2K || FD $4.8K)
  • Zellweger (DK $3.2K || FD $3.6K)
