DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/9/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on October 9, 2023. Mike's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Only the National League is in action today with Game 2 for both NLDS between the Braves/Phillies and Dodgers/Diamondbacks. We get started early in Atlanta with the L.A. series as the nightcap.

This article contains my picks for the two-game main slate on Monday, October 9, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 6:07 PM ET. It looks like great fall baseball weather for both games tonight, so let's enjoy it!

The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Zack Wheeler, PHI at ATL ($8,800 DK, $9,600 FD)

Wheeler has pitched against the Braves three times this year. They roughed him up in Philly for six runs in five innings. Wheeler beat the Braves both times in Atlanta, allowing just one run in 14 innings there. I feel like a Braves stack is going to be popular, and who can blame anyone? Wheeler's career stats against the Braves are rough.

When you have these small slates in the playoffs, it is even more important to try and guess what others will do and do something different in GPP formats. Trusting Wheeler's success in Atlanta this year should be one way to do that.

Bobby Miller, LAD vs. ARI ($6,900 DK, $8,800 FD)

For the price, I see no reason not to use someone else on FD. However, Miller provides a nice price break on DK. While has has been better on the road than at home this year, he has pitched well enough against Arizona in both locations. Miller has allowed four runs in 12 innings to the Diamondbacks this year with eight strikeouts. That's nothing to write home about, but the huge savings in DK can grab you more big bats than your competition.

Others to consider: Max Fried, ($8,000 DK; $10,200 FD) ATL vs. PHI

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

J.T. Realmuto - C, PHI at ATL ($4,200 DK, $3,100 FD)

If you are a DFS veteran on FanDuel, you know the reasons for using a catcher in your lineup to get separation. Most players don't use a catcher if they don't have to. Realmuto has slugged three homers against Max Fried in his career and is a strong 14-for-40 (.350) against him in his career. He's the catcher you want on DK and can be used as a pivot in FanDuel GPPs.

Evan Longoria - 3B, ARI at LAD ($2,800 DK, $2,300 FD)

Arizona has turned to the veteran Longoria in the playoffs and it immediately paid dividends with a sweep of Milwaukee in the Wild Card. Longoria drove in two runs in Arizona's Game 1 rout of the Dodgers in L.A. There aren't a lot of ways to go cheap on this slate. Going with a veteran with playoff experience against a rookie is usually a good idea in the postseason.

Trea Turner - SS, PHI at ATL ($5,200 DK, $3,800 FD)

Turner has swiped four bags in three October games. Not many players hit Max Fried well, but the Phillies have a few that do. Front and center is Turner, who is 14-for-35 (.400) against Fried with a pair of doubles and a homer. And if he fails to hit a homer, well, he's stealing bases at will right now. That's good to fall back on.

 

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Corbin Carroll - OF, ARI at LAD ($5,600 DK, $4,300 FD)

Not all rookies struggle in the playoffs. Carroll is 6-for-12 with two walks, a double, two homers, four RBI, and five runs scored in his first three playoff games. All were wins for Arizona. The real test for Carroll comes tonight as the rookie has the donut in six at-bats against Bobby Miller. I'll trust the hot hand for the significant savings on DK, but on FD, I'll find the extra $400 for Ronald Acuna Jr.

James Outman - OF, LAD vs. ARI ($3,600 DK, $3,200 FD)

Outman is one of the few Dodgers that didn't struggle down the stretch. He is hitting .303 in the last 10 games despite drawing the collar in Game 1. Game 2 should be different as Zac Gallen has been awful on the road this season. If the Dodgers are going to catch fire again, it should be here.

Cristian Pache - OF, PHI at ATL ($2,100 DK, $2,100 FD)

The former top prospect of the Braves (who coincidentally made his major league debut against the Phillies in 2020) has not only been a strong defender, but he has hit .314 against lefties this season. With a southpaw on the bump for Atlanta tonight, expect Pache to be in there. He's a great way to save some cash tonight on both sites.

 

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Zac Gallen

Gallen's ERA was almost two full runs higher on the road this season and he had a 9.90 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers. Using Gallen in a GPP would put you in the strong minority, but you might not survive it. He was serviceable in Milwaukee to start Arizona's postseason last week, but the Brewers aren't the Dodgers.

Favorite pieces: Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Mookie Betts, James Outman, David Peralta

Also consider: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Bobby Miller

Arizona jumped all over Clayton Kershaw in Game 1. He allowed six runs and recorded just one out before getting the hook. With a rookie making his first playoff start next up for Arizona, they could stay hot.

Favorite pieces: Corbin Carroll, Tommy Pham, Christian Walker, Ketel Marte, Evan Longoria

Sneaky Stack: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Max Fried

Fried has been excellent this year, but his 3.86 ERA at home belies his 2.55 mark on the season. If a team is going to get to him, it will likely be in Atlanta. Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper both hit lefties well, so this could be the spot to use the Phillies.
