DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/22/22): MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on September 22nd, 2022. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Thursday RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate. After a bit of a bigger slate last week relative to the weeks before, we have a very solid slate tonight, with an eight-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. It is nicer to have a bit of a larger player pool tonight than in previous weeks.

We don't have any slate differences tonight, which is always a good thing. That way I don't have to make selections that may be on one slate and not the other. I have big ideas for tonight's slate, so let's get right to it.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel at 6:35 pm on 9/22/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shane Bieber, CLE at CWS ($10,100 DK, $10,800 FD)

We'll start tonight's slate off with Shane Bieber. Bieber has been on a heater of late, logging at least 25 DraftKings points and 45 FanDuel points in each of his last five starts. While my projections don't have him reaching those marks tonight, I'm still high on him this evening against a White Sox team that never seemed to get their footing this season. Bieber is 7-4 with a 2.66 ERA against the Sox in his career, and projects to a 3.26 xFIP and 26.31% strikeout rate against them tonight.

DraftKings Projection: 21.1

FanDuel Projection: 38.5

Hayden Wesneski, CHC at PIT ($6,900 DK, $8,100 FD)

I'll be taking a look at Hayden Wesneski tonight, who's making just his fourth start. He's had two really good starts and one not-so-good start thus far, but I'm projecting that he'll have one of those "good" starts tonight. I project Wesneski to a 3.64 xFIP and 25.64% strikeout rate this evening, and I expect him to silence the Pirates bats tonight en route to a quality start and potentially a win.

DraftKings Projection: 18.2

FanDuel Projection: 29.7

Also consider: Justin Verlander, Max Fried

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Austin Riley - 3B, ATL vs. Ranger Suarez ($5,300 DK, $3,800 FD)

As far as hitters go, I'll start off with Austin Riley. I'll always make a point to make sure I play Riley whenever he faces a lefty. He's absolutely crushed left-handed pitchers this year, with a .854 wOBA + ISO against them. He projects to a 42.46% hard contact rate and .662 wOBA + ISO against Phillies starter Ranger Suarez's pitch types. Riley is just 2-9 with a double off of Suarez but has drawn three walks. He now has to see Riley and Braves for the second consecutive start, something that seems to never bode well for pitchers.

DraftKings Projection: 10.9

FanDuel Projection: 13.8

Willy Adames - SS, MIL vs. Hunter Greene ($4,700 DK, $3,500 FD)

I'll look at Willy Adames at the shortstop position tonight. Adames draws a solid matchup against Cincinnati right-hander Hunter Greene. He projects to a 36.98% hard contact rate and a whopping .763 wOBA + ISO against the fireballer. He's had some past success against Greene as well, going 2-6 with two homers and two walks against the 23-year-old righty.

DraftKings Projection: 10.3

FanDuel Projection: 13.1

Jonathan Aranda - 2B, TB  vs. Jose Berrios ($2,400 DK, $2,100 FD)

If we're looking for value, we don't need to look much further than Rays second baseman Jonathan Aranda. Aranda has logged just 50 at-bats this season and comes into this game hitting .260 with a .739 OPS. He projects to a 34.78% hard contact rate and .693 wOBA + ISO against Berrios's pitch types.

DraftKings Projection: 7.6

FanDuel Projection: 9.3

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez - OF, HOU vs. Kyle Bradish ($6,300 DK, $4,700 FD)

As far as outfielders go we'll go right back to where we went last week, Yordan Alvarez. Yordan had gone on a heater since I wrote him up last, going 10-24 with four homers in the last week. After a quiet night last night, he'll look to get back in form tonight against Baltimore righty Kyle Bradish, with whom he projects a 44.61% hard contact rate and .753 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types. He's 0-2 with a walk in just three at-bats against the righty, but that should change tonight.

DraftKings Projection: 12.1

FanDuel Projection: 15.8

Hunter Renfroe - OF, MIL vs. Hunter Greene ($4,000 DK, $2,900 FD)

I'll speak more on the Brewers as a whole in a bit, but I'll be taking a look at Hunter Renfroe tonight. Renfroe has been relatively quiet this season, coming into this game with a .248 average and .783 OPS. He projects to a whopping 16% home run rate, among the highest on the slate, as well as a 38.14% hard contact rate and .654 wOBA + ISO against Hunter Greene's pitch types. Renfroe's among the top of the board in terms of value tonight on both sites.

DraftKings Projection: 10.1

FanDuel Projection: 13.4

David Peralta - OF, TB vs. Jose Berrios ($3,100 DK, $2,500 FD)

I'll finish things off tonight with Rays outfielder David Peralta. Things haven't necessarily worked out for me when rostering Peralta this season, but I'll look for that to change tonight. He projects to a 35.06% hard contact rate and .635 wOBA + ISO against Jose Berrios's pitch types. Peralta's just 1-5 with a walk against Berrios in his career, but I think the Rays are a sneaky stack on this slate, and for me, where the Rays go, Peralta goes.

DraftKings Projection: 7.7

FanDuel Projection: 9.7

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Hunter Greene

I'll start off my favorite stack with the top-rated stack according to my model tonight, the Milwaukee Brewers. They'll take on Hunter Greene, a starter that has had his struggles against the Brew Crew this season. Greene is 0-2 with a 9.69 ERA against Milwaukee this season. The Brewers have done their part against righties this season as well, ranking 5th in OPS (.750) and wOBA (.326), tied for 9th in wRC+ (109).

Favorite Plays: Willy Adames, Hunter Renfroe, Christian Yelich, Rowdy Tellez, Tyrone Taylor

Houston Astros vs. Kyle Bradish

I'll look to Baltimore for the second stack of the night, the Houston Astros. The Astros technically rank fourth in terms of stack value on my model but have the all-around numbers including pitch-type data for me to bump them up to my second favorite on the slate. Orioles starter Kyle Bradish tossed his best start of the season against the Stros back on August 26, going eight shutout innings and allowing just two hits while striking out six. However, I'll back Houston here as they rank 7th in OPS (.732), 8th in wOBA (.319), and are tied with the Brewers and Cardinals for 6th in wRC+ (109).

Favorite Plays: Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, Trey Mancini, Kyle Tucker, Jeremy Pena, Aledmys Diaz

Also Consider: Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays
