DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/4/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on August 4, 2023. Nick Shlain's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

We have yet another busy Friday on tap with 11 games on the main slate. I will be with you for all of your MLB DFS needs. This will focus on the main slate of games.

This article contains my picks for the 11-game main slate on Friday, August 4, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 7:05 PM ET. There is a chance of rain in St. Louis again tonight, but as of now, it doesn't look like anything that will wipe out the game. It is worth keeping an eye on though.

The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Aaron Nola, PHI vs. KC ($10,000 DK, $9,900 FD)

The pitching options tonight are pretty straightforward. I think Aaron Nola is the best play on the board. He's expensive and likely to be popular, but it's hard to argue with the reasoning. Nola had a bit of a clunker in his last start allowing five earned runs, but he has had at least six strikeouts in his last five games and even has a 12-strikeout performance in there. We could get another ceiling game like that from Nola tonight against a Royals lineup that has combined for a 23% strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this season.

Reid Detmers, LAA vs. SEA ($8,200 DK, $9,000 FD)

The Angels might find a way to lose this game as they seem to do, but Detmers is another pitcher in good position to put up a ceiling game from a strikeout perspective tonight. Seattle's projected lineup has combined for a 27% strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching this season. Detmers has struck out at least six batters in seven of his last nine starts.

Others to consider: Luis Castillo ($10,200 DK, $10,700 FD) at LAA; Logan Allen ($7,900 DK, $8,800 FD) vs. CHW

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Rafael Devers - 3B, BOS vs. TOR ($5,100 DK, $3,500 FD)

Devers will be popular tonight, especially on FanDuel where he's pretty affordable. The reason he'll be popular is his matchup at home against Toronto's Alek Manoah. Manoah has allowed a .213 ISO and .383 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Manoah has only allowed two home runs in four starts since returning from the minor leagues, but he's also failed to complete five innings in two of those starts. Devers has a .239 ISO and .347 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season so he's in a good spot tonight.

Brendan Rodgers - 2B, COL at STL ($2,400 DK, $2,400 FD)

Rodgers is simply too cheap tonight, especially on DraftKings. Rodgers is projected to hit fifth tonight in the Rockies lineup going up against Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright. Wainwright hasn't been himself this year as he nears the end of his career. He's allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last five starts. Left-handed hitters have been better than right-handed hitters, but Rodgers is just too cheap at this low price tonight not to take advantage.

Andres Gimenez - 2B, CLE vs. CHW ($4,000 DK, $3,000 FD)

Gimenez hasn't had the best season at the plate so far, but he's been better in the second half of the season. He's got a great matchup tonight going up against White Sox starter Mike Clevinger. Clevinger has struggled against left-handed hitters allowing a .220 ISO and .326 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Gimenez is underpriced for this matchup, especially on FanDuel.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Kyle Schwarber - OF, PHI vs. KC ($4,600 DK, $3,800 FD)

Schwarber is in a great spot tonight and is underpriced on DraftKings. The Phillies are facing Jordan Lyles tonight. He's allowed a .244 ISO and .362 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season. Schwarber has a .232 ISO and .329 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season. This is a smash spot for Schwarber.

Jaren Duran - OF, BOS vs. TOR ($4,400 DK, $3,300 FD)

Duran will leadoff for the Red Sox and is in a good spot to put up fantasy points. Alek Manoah has struggled against left-handed hitters this season and he hasn't been particularly sharp in his four starts since returning from the minors. Duran has a .209 ISO and .382 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Boston's lineup is loaded with left-handed hitters to take advantage of Manoah and Duran is certainly one of them.

Tyler O'Neill - OF, STL vs. COL ($3,500 DK, $2,600 FD)

O'Neill got the day off yesterday, but he should be back in the lineup tonight. He's popped a few home runs already this week and seems to be hitting just fine at the moment. O'Neill's numbers aren't great this season, but he's up to a .163 ISO and .323 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Rockies starter Chris Flexer has allowed a .250 ISO and .428 wOBA to right-handed hitters this season. O'Neill is underpriced tonight, especially on FanDuel.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Jordan Lyles

Lyles is the worst pitcher on the slate and this is a tough matchup for him going on the road to face the Phillies. Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper are in great spots as Lyles struggles with left-handed hitters. Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh also make sense to use as part of a Phillies stack because they're left-handed.

Also consider: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chris Flexen

Lyles might be the worst pitcher on the slate, but Flexen isn't good either and the Cardinals are in a great spot at home. Flexen has allowed at least a .200 ISO to both left- and right-handed hitters this season. Lars Nootbaar, Nolan Gorman, Paul Goldschmidt, and Nolan Arenado all have at least a .200 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.

Sneaky Stack: Cleveland Guardians vs. Mike Clevinger

The Guardians might not be super sneaky, but they are cheap tonight and in a good spot against Clevinger. The Guardians lineup will have some left-handed hitters in there and Clevinger has allowed a .220 ISO to left-handed hitters this season. Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, Steven Kwan, and Will Brennan all make sense as part of a Cleveland stack.
