DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/3/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Shohei Ohtani - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on August 3rd, 2022. Juan Carlos Blanco's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back to another edition of the FREE DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks. As customary, we have an all-day ledger on tap Wednesday, and although DraftKings does not have a full-day slate, FanDuel does. Consequently, today's article will feature picks on both sites for games throughout the day, as even on DK, the suggestions will prove viable for someone playing one of the site's split slates.

It's a solid day on the pitching front, with one of the biggest names from each league in a favorable matchup and a third arm that's also in a good spot available at a nice discount. There are also some targetable arms taking the hill, so putting together an array of bats that there's plenty of reason to be optimistic about was a fairly straightforward process as well.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 8/3/2022 that includes a FanDuel main slate locking at 12:10 pm ET. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, find me on Twitter and ask away!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shohei Ohtani -P, LAA vs. OAK ($10,000 DK, $11,300 FD)

Ohtani has been one of the few bright spots for the Angels in a difficult season, as he's once again thriving in his two-way role. The right-hander comes into Wednesday's matchup having been mostly dominant on the mound since early June. Even on the rare occasion where he's been hit hard -- such as when he gave up six earned runs over 6.1 innings to Atlanta two starts ago -- Othani is still racking up double-digit strikeouts, having rung up 11 Braves in that particular outing.

He's rattled off six consecutive double-digit K tallies overall, and Wednesday, he gets his first crack of the season at an Athletics squad that's shown signs of life at the plate of late but still enters with a .223 average, .285 OBP, and .294 wOBA against righties on the road since June 1st. Ohtani has also been at his best at home by far, producing a 5-3 record, 2.15 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 13.4 K/9, and 0.8 HR/9 across 54.1 innings. Finally, he also has a very favorable track record versus current A's bats, limiting them to a collective .105/.217/.129 slash line in 50 career encounters.

Sandy Alcantara - P, MIA vs. CIN (*Game not on DK*, $11,200 FD)

Alcantara remained untouchable at the trade deadline as expected, and he'll come into Wednesday's matchup looking to continue pushing his already elite 1.99 ERA even further downward.  The NL Cy Young odds-on favorite gave up four earned runs to the potent Mets lineup last time out, but that was a rare stumble. Alcantara still boasts a 2.00 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 0.6 HR/9 in 81 home frames, and he's facing a Reds team that just traded away a pair of capable bats in Brandon Drury and Tyler Naquin. Cincinnati has just a .306 wOBA, .113 ISO, and -2.1 wRAA against right-handed pitching on the road since June 1st as well, furthering Alcantara's already strong case in what has the potential to be a productive bounce-back outing.

Other options: Joe Ryan - P, MIN vs. DET ($8,100 DK, $8,400 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Paul Goldschmidt - 1B, STL vs. Justin Steele ($6,300 DK, $4,200 FD)

Goldschmidt is sporting a .332/.412/.611 line on the season following another stellar 2-for-3, three-RBI showing Tuesday that included his 25th homer. The veteran MVP candidate has absolutely terrorized left-handed pitching all season, generating a jaw-dropping .589 wOBA against that handedness, including a .626 wOBA and 1.431 OPS versus that handedness at home. He's also enjoyed success against Steele in the past over a modest sample of seven encounters, delivering a pair of singles and a homer. Meanwhile, Steele has been very impressive overall on a bad team, but he's yielded a .291 average and .346 wOBA to right-handed hitters on the road.

Marcus Semien - 2B, TEX vs. Kyle Bradish ($4,700 DK, $3,500 FD)

Semien may not be putting up the cumulative numbers of his career-best season in Toronto in 2021, but the veteran infielder still boasts a formidable fantasy ceiling and can deliver on his reasonable salaries with one swing of the bat. He's lined up for a good matchup Wednesday against Bradish, who's pitched to a .333 BAA, 1.5 HR/9, and .382 wOBA against right-handed hitters on the road. Semien doesn't exactly have appealing numbers against right-handed pitching at home, but he's been partly victimized by an abnormally low .214 BABIP in that split despite a 15.2 percent strikeout rate. After a slow start to the season, Semien has also largely atoned for his early struggles, as he owns a .285 average, .867 OPS and 24 extra-base hits since June 2nd.

Tim Anderson - SS, CWS vs. Brady Singer ($5,500 DK, $3,200 FD)

Anderson picked up another pair of hits Tuesday night, pushing his season slash line to .314/.353/.413. The talented shortstop is still appealing his recent suspension, so he should be in the lineup again Wednesday against a talented pitcher he's enjoyed plenty of success against in the past in Singer. Anderson boasts a .667 average in 10 career encounters with Singer, and he's produced a .304 average and .339 OBP at home across 180 plate appearances. Anderson also happens to be an excellent hitter against Singer's two most often-thrown pitches, the sinker and slider, as he's generated .372 and .333 wOBAs, respectively, versus those offerings.

Alec Bohm - 3B, PHI at Charlie Morton ($3,400 DK, $2,900 FD)

Bohm is in the midst of an excellent season that includes a .296 average, including a .298 figure against right-handers on the road. He's also coming off his best month of the season at the plate in July, when he generated a .434 average, 1.088 OPS, .463 wOBA, and 201 wRC+ across 81 plate appearances. Bohm has also enjoyed almost nearly all his past encounters versus Morton, who he's tormented for a .471 average in 17 career plate appearances. Morton has flirted with some trouble against right-handed hitters at home by posting a 10.0 percent walk rate in that split, and an atypically low .237 BABIP has helped bail him out on occasion.

Other options: Pete Alonso, 1B, NYM at Anibal Sanchez ($10,200 DK Showdown, $4,100 FD); Jose Altuve, 2B, HOU vs. Brayan Bello ($5,800 DK, $3,900 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Yordan Alvarez - HOU vs. Brayan Bello ($6,200 DK, $4,500 FD)

Alvarez is a threat irrespective of whoever is on the mound, but especially in an opposite-handed matchup against a rookie that's struggled in his first few big-league outings. Bello has given up a .389 average, .446 wOBA, and 25.9 percent line-drive rate to left-handed hitters, while Alvarez has generated a .330 average, 1.163 OPS, .476 wOBA, 33.8 percent HR/FB rate, and 44.7 percent hard contact rate against right-handed pitching. He also furnished a 1.146 OPS, .460 wOBA, and 209 wRC+ in July, and his .401 and .393 wOBAs with men on base and men in scoring position, respectively, give him significant RBI upside in a loaded lineup.

Starling Marte - OF, NYM at Anibal Sanchez ($10,400 DK Showdown, $3,900 FD)

Sanchez has been tagged for a .360 average and .459 wOBA by the first 30 right-handed hitters he's encountered this season, and the aging righty has pitched to an 8.44 ERA and .371 wOBA in 10.2 innings at Nationals Park thus far. Marte has been excellent in his first Mets campaign, and he's produced a solid .339 wOBA and .775 OPS against right-handed pitching on the road. The versatile veteran also just completed an excellent July where he generated a .377 average, 1.019 OPS, and .438 wOBA, and he's been highly productive against Sanchez's top two pitches, the changeup and cutter; while the veteran right-hander has allowed respective .492 and .337 wOBAs when throwing those pitches, Marte has .409 and .356 wOBAs against those respective offerings.

Teoscar Hernandez- OF, TOR at Ryan Yarbrough ($4,500 DK, $3,600 FD)

Hernandez has pounded left-handed pitching on the road to the tune of a .320 average and .371 wOBA, along with a robust 47.6 percent hard contact rate. The slugging outfielder posted a .373 wOBA in July as well, and his body of work versus Yarbrough includes a .344 average, 1.257 OPS, and five homers against the southpaw in 34 career plate appearances. For his part, Yarbrough has pitched to a .321 BAA, .365 wOBA, and 5.60 xFIP against right-handed hitters at home as well, furthering Hernandez's case.

Other options: Randy Arozarena - OF, TB vs. Yusei Kikuchi ($5,100 DK, $3,000 FD)
