DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/10/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Paul Goldschmidt - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS Picks

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on August 10th, 2022. Juan Carlos Blanco's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Welcome back to another edition of the FREE DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks. As customary, we have an all-day ledger on tap Wednesday, and although DraftKings does not have a full-day slate, FanDuel does. Consequently, today's article will feature picks on both sites for games throughout the day, as even on DK, the suggestions will prove viable for someone playing one of the site's split slates.

It's a solid day on the pitching front, with one of the biggest names from each league in a favorable matchup and a third arm that's also in a good spot available at a nice discount. There are also some targetable arms taking the hill, so assembling some very appealing hitters and identifying two potentially profitable stacks was a fairly straightforward process as well.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 8/10/2022 that includes a FanDuel main slate locking at 1:10 pm ET. The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, find me on Twitter and ask away!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Justin Verlander -P, HOU vs. TEX ($10,500 DK, $11,300 FD)

Verlander is now the frontrunner for the AL Cy Young award with good reason, as he's pitched to a 7-0 record, 0.76 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 0.4 HR/9 across the 47.2 innings covering his last seven starts. The ageless right-hander also has completely stymied the Rangers over his two prior encounters with them this season, allowing only a single earned run over 13 innings while generating a 16:0 K:BB in that span. Verlander has been excellent at home as well, posting a 7-1 record, 1.93 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 0.6 HR/9 across 56 innings at Minute Maid Park. Texas has been a dangerous opponent against right-handed pitching on the road in the last month, but Verlander's .218 xBA and .270 xwOBA underscore the extent of his dominance thus far this season.

Sandy Alcantara - P, MIA at PHI ($10,300 DK, $11,200 FD)

Alcantara continues to roll on toward a potential NL Cy Young award himself, as he's now carrying a 1.88 ERA and 0.93 WHIP after a complete-game shutout of the Reds in his most recent start last Wednesday. The right-hander is on extra rest coming into this matchup versus the Phillies, which he's already pitched to a 2.45 ERA and averaged a strikeout an inning against over three starts this season. Philadelphia has been a tough out for visiting right-handed pitchers of late with a .364 wOBA in that split over the last month, but Alcantara has held current Phillies hitters to a collective .174/.256/.249 slash line in 160 career encounters. Moreover, Alcantara has pitched to a 1.98 ERA, .199 BAA, and .256 wOBA across 68.1 road frames, strengthening his case.

Other options: Johnny Cueto - P, CWS at KC ($9,100 DK, $  FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Paul Goldschmidt - 1B, STL at Kyle Freeland ($6,200 DK, $4,500 FD)

Goldschmidt has been a certifiable menace against left-handed pitching all season, generating a .458 average, 1.394 OPS, .576 wOBA, and a massive 283 wRC+ against that handedness. Factor in the Coors Field environment and his red-hot bat (.389 average, 1.353 OPS, and .538 wOBA in August going into Tuesday night's game), and Goldschmidt is a premium play against Freeland, who's pitched to a 5.55 ERA, .301 BAA, .374 wOBA, and 1.3 HR/9 at home this season. Additionally, Goldschmidt is essentially bulletproof against whatever Freeland may throw at him, as the slugger owns respective wOBAs of .444, .341, and .413 against the lefty's top-three pitches, the four-seam, cutter, and sinker.

Jose Altuve - 2B, HOU vs. Glenn Otto ($5,300 DK, $3,700 FD)

Otto has been tormented by right-handed hitters all season, allowing a .299 average, .382 wOBA, 1.5 HR/9, and 4.97 xFIP in that split. The right-hander does have better metrics in away starts, but he's been partly bailed out by a .257 BABIP when traveling and actually has a higher xFIP on the road (4.93) than at home (4.90). Altuve has been better against left-handed pitching overall, yet he's been a terror at home with a .335 average, .976 OPS, and .417 wOBA, along with a 15.8 wRAA. The multi-time All-Star has a .303 average and .366 wOBA against righties at Minute Maid Park, and he's also posted a .400 average over a brief sample of six career encounters against Otto.

Trea Turner - SS, LAD vs. Sonny Gray ($5,500 DK, $3,800 FD)

Gray is undoubtedly a quality pitcher, which should make Turner likely a bit lower-rostered than usual Wednesday. However, the veteran is now carrying a .306/.346/.502 slash line following a 2-for-5, three-RBI night Tuesday night. Gray is coming off a month of July where he pitched to a .277 BAA and .341 wOBA while producing just a 6.1 K/9, a glimpse of his vulnerability. Turner owns an impressive .299 average and .341 wOBA against right-handed pitching at home, and he's managed a .438 average and struck out just once against Gray in 18 career plate appearances. A big reason for that success is likely due to Turner's proficiency against Gray's top-three pitches -- the hot-hitting shortstop boasts .389, .447, and .429 wOBAs against the sinker, four-seam, and curveball, respectively.

Austin Riley - 3B, ATL at Nick Pivetta ($5,200 DK, $3,800 FD)

Riley is typically a prudent selection in virtually any matchup, but especially against a vulnerable right-hander like Pivetta. The veteran hurler has pitched to a .266 BAA, .335 wOBA, and 1.41 WHIP at Fenway Park, and Riley, following a spectacular 3-for-6, five-RBI night Tuesday, now boasts a .298 average and .953 OPS. Riley also went into Tuesday night's game with a .375 wOBA and .265 ISO on the road and has also been on a month-plus tear at the plate, hitting .388 and driving in 26 runs over his last 30 games dating back to July 5th.

Other options: Harold Castro - 1B/2B/3B DET vs. Aaron Civale ($2,500 DK, $2,200 FD); Nolan Arenado - 3B, STL at Kyle Freeland ($5,200 DK, $4,300 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Charlie Blackmon - COL vs. Jose Quintana ($4,800 DK, $3,900 FD)

Blackmon has always laughed off lefty-on-lefty matchups, posting a career .305/.359/.467 slash line in that split, and an elite .404 wOBA when facing southpaws at Coors Field. Quintana has made a small contribution to those numbers, surrendering a .615 average to Blackmon in 13 career encounters. The veteran outfielder is thriving against left-handers at Coors again this season as well, generating a .333 average, .820 OPS, and .359 wOBA while striking out a very modest 13.9 percent clip in that circumstance.

Ian Happ - CHC vs. Josiah Gray ($4,200 DK, $2,800 FD)

Gray has been notoriously ineffective at keeping the ball in the park this season, yielding a whopping 28 homers in 106 innings, leading to a 2.4 HR/9. He's been much better in terms of ERA (3.25) and WHIP (1.07) on the road, but he's still generated a 2.1 HR/9 in that split, and 16 of those 28-round trippers he's conceded have come off the bat of left-handed hitters. Gray has allowed a .400 wOBA overall to lefty bats, and Happ checked into Tuesday night's game with a .315 average, .890 OPS, .385 wOBA, and 10.2 wRAA against right-handed pitching at home, a split during which he also sports a superior 24.1 percent line-drive rate.

Andrew Vaughn -  CWS at Kris Bubic ($4,500 DK, $3,100 FD)

Vaughn makes for an intriguing right-handed bat to deploy against Bubic, who's pitched to a 5.86 ERA, .281 BAA, and .347 wOBA at home. Vaughn has tagged southpaws for a .344/.411/.531 slash line on the road, along with a .406 wOBA and 165 wRC+. The talented outfielder has also shown plenty of improvement at the plate this season after a so-so 2021 rookie campaign, and he'll come into Wednesday's contest in the midst of a blistering August where he's posted a .423 average, 1.137 OPS, and minuscule 10.3 percent strikeout rate over his first seven games of the month. Meanwhile, Bubic has arguably been fortunate to not have worse numbers, as he carries a .276 xBA, .361 xwOBA, and 5.59 xERA into Wednesday's start.

Other options: Luis Robert - CWS at Kris Bubic ($5,000 DK, $3,700 FD); Randal Grichuk - COL vs. Jose Quintana ($4,100 DK, $3,700 FD)
