DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (7/14/22): MLB DFS Lineups

Ronald Acuna Jr. - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, Betting Picks

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on July 14th, 2022. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Thursday, RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's slate. Thursdays are typically weird slates, but we have a decent eleven-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. While we've been short on pitching on Thursday slates, we have no such issue tonight. There are a plethora of aces at our disposal, the more difficult find will be the value arm(s).

We don't have any slate differences today, which is awesome. It's tough for me to express all of my favorite plays in this article, and when some players are on FanDuel but not DraftKings and vice-versa, it makes it even more difficult. Nevertheless, with all of the games being on the same slate, let's giddy up and have some fun tonight.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel at 7:05 pm on 7/14/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Corbin Burnes, MIL at SF ($10,600 DK, $11,300 FD)

As I mentioned, we have a ton of aces on the slate. I'll go with the best of them all, Corbin Burnes, to start us off for tonight. Burnes has had a bit of a down year, relative to his 2021 campaign, but has still pitched extremely well. I project him to continue pitching well tonight against a Giants lineup that's been rather hot and cold this season. He projects to a 2.74 xFIP and a 35.47% strikeout rate tonight. He's bound to have a decent amount of ownership, which is always tough to swallow at his price, but I believe it's worth it tonight.

DraftKings Projection: 25.52
FanDuel Projection: 49.22

Kevin Gausman, TOR vs KC ($8,600 DK, $10,100 FD)

I mean, we're getting an absolute steal on DraftKings here tonight. There's no doubt in my mind he'll be the highest-owned pitcher on both sites tonight. The Royals are coming to Canada, and have ruled out ten players, effectively putting them for the restricted list for the series. This includes MJ Melendez, Andrew Benintendi, and Hunter Dozier, three of the top five hitters in the lineup. Gausman projects to a 2.91 xFIP tonight and a 33.06% strikeout rate against this poor Royals lineup.

DraftKings Projection: 25.52
FanDuel Projection: 49.22

Also consider: Framber Valdez, Sonny Gray, Drew Rasmussen

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Jose Ramirez - 3B, CLE vs. Elvin Rodriguez ($5,200 DK, $4,100 FD)

As far as hitters go, I'll lead off with Jose Ramirez. I'm all over the Guardians tonight against Elvin Rodriguez, and who better to start with than J-Ram, who just announced he's going to be in the Home Run Derby next Monday night. Ramirez should lead Cleveland to a huge offensive night, as I have him projected for a 40.36% hard contact rate and a .852 wOBA + ISO against Rodriguez's pitch types. He's 0-2 off of Rodriguez, but I expect the tides to turn this evening.

DraftKings Projection: 12.22
FanDuel Projection: 15.72

Jose Altuve - 2B, HOU vs. Reid Detmers ($5,800 DK, $3,900 FD)

I'll look to Jose Altuve next, who grades out as the best infielder on the slate as far as player rating goes (52.82). This doesn't necessarily mean he's the highest projected player, but a good play nonetheless. Altuve projects to a whopping 54.78% hard contact rate tonight as well as a .887 wOBA + ISO against Detmers's pitch types. Altuve's just 1-5 off the 23-year-old southpaw, but that one hit was a home run.

DraftKings Projection: 14.63
FanDuel Projection: 12.5

Danny Jansen - C, TOR vs. Jackson Kowar ($4,400 DK, $2,700 FD)

I don't normally write up catchers just based on the fact that most people will use a first baseman at the C/1B slot, but I believe Jansen is a great play on both sites tonight. While the Toronto catcher is hitting just .237, he's made use of his at-bats on the year, given his .902 OPS. He projects to a 51.41% hard contact rate against Royals' projected starter Jackson Kowar, as well as bringing in an incredible 1.194 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types.

DraftKings Projection: 12.09
FanDuel Projection: 11.4

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Ronald Acuna - OF, ATL vs. Anibal Sanchez ($6,200 DK, $4,300 FD)

Acuna is a frequent-flier in these articles, and often for good reason. While he didn't do us any favors last week against Matthew Liberatore, he gets a chance to redeem himself against veteran right-hander Anibal Sanchez, who's making his debut tonight. I project Acuna to a 42.14% hard contact rate against Sanchez, as well as a .739 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types. He's 5-15 with a double against Sanchez, and I'll guess for him to lead off tonight's game with a bang.

DraftKings Projection: 14.35
FanDuel Projection: 17.82

Marcell Ozuna - OF, ATL vs. Anibal Sanchez ($4,200 DK, $3,100 FD)

I'm doubling up on Braves here and will have plenty of exposure to them in my stacks. Ozuna arguably grades out better than Acuna, with a projected 49.18% hard contact rate and a .889 wOBA + ISO against Sanchez's pitch types. He hasn't had the same prior success against the righty, though, going just 1-11 with two strikeouts against Sanchez in his career. Nevertheless, it'll be Anibal's first MLB action in two years, so I have no trouble filling my lineup with Braves.

DraftKings Projection: 12.17
FanDuel Projection: 14.12

Nolan Jones - OF, CLE vs. Elvin Rodriguez ($2,000 DK, $3,000 FD)

Much like Jordan Luplow last week, Nolan Jones is by far my favorite value play on the slate. The rookie has come onto the scene strong, hitting .350 with a home run in his first 20 at-bats. I project for Jones to have a 46.6% hard contact rate and a whopping 1.291 wOBA + ISO against Rodriguez's pitch types. He's yet to face Rodriguez but should have no problem taking it to him today.

DraftKings Projection: 11.94
FanDuel Projection: 13.22

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Jackson Kowar

The Blue Jays just handed it to Zack Wheeler and the Phillies last night, and now they get a quality matchup against a shorthanded Royals tonight. As of right now it's Jackson Kowar projected to take the ball for Kansas City this evening, but I have heard rumblings that it could be Carlos Hernandez. Either way, I'll be backing the Jays tonight, who rank fourth in OPS (.759), fourth in wOBA (.331), and sixth in wRC+ (112). I actually like a bottom-of-the-lineup wraparound stack here, providing us some solid value while fitting in our two top arms.

Favorite Plays: Danny Jansen, Raimel Tapia, Cavan Biggio, Bo Bichette, Alejando Kirk

Cleveland Guardians vs. Elvin Rodriguez

I'll be looking at the Guardians tonight as my second stack against Elvin Rodriguez. He threw four scoreless innings against Cleveland earlier in the year, but I don't expect the same results tonight. Rodriguez is bringing in an 11.51 ERA into this one, and the Guardians have been swinging it well. Cleveland ranks ninth in OPS (.724), ninth in wOBA (.316), and eighth wRC+ (106).

Favorite Plays: Nolan Jones, Franmil Reyes, Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, Andres Gimenez

Also Consider: Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros
