DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/29/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Adolis Garcia - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB DFS Picks, Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on May 29, 2023. Casey Wilson's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone. I want to start by remembering all those who risked their lives fighting for our freedom. I also want to thank those who have fought to protect that freedom. Today is truly a fantastic day for family, friends, and baseball, but it's essential to remember the real reason for this holiday. With that being said, we have baseball all day today. What better way to celebrate our country with its national pastime?

I will be covering the early six-game slate in this article. This slate is exciting, as we don't have any slam dunk plays on the mound. The same goes for stacks. This makes me want to fade any chalk we see and build contrarian lineups today. I believe this is one of those slates where a sub-10 percent arm or stack can be the separator in our lineups.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/29/2023 and the slate locking at 1:05 pm ET. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential. Now that we got all that out of the way, it's onto the picks! DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Nathan Eovaldi, TEX at DET ($10,500 DK, $11,200 FD)

I never thought I would see the day when Nathan Eovaldi would be the most expensive pitcher in a DFS slate, but here we are. Eovaldi has been phenomenal over his last five starts. He has gone eight innings in four of those five starts. He scored over 27.8 DraftKings points in four of those five starts.

Over his last five starts, he is averaging 8.1 innings per start with an 0.86 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 41.2 innings pitched. Throughout 2023, he has a 3.40 SIERA, 25.0% K, 12.1% SwStr, and a 4.2% BB. He also has a 51.6% GB with only a 31.2% hard-hit rate.

He will now face the Detroit Tigers in Comerica Park. The Tigers have a 23.0% K% against right-hand pitching, right around the league average. They do own an 85 wRC+, the fifth-worst in baseball. Their .292 wOBA and .350 SLG are also both bottom five in baseball.

Although the strikeout upside hasn't been the Tigers we are accustomed to attacking, this offense has done little damage. The park is a pitcher's park, and I love the chances of Eovaldi pitching deep into this game and racking up fantasy points.

Mike Mayers, KC at STL ($5,400 DK, $8,000 FD)

Mike Mayers is a wild card on today's slate. He will be the bulk reliever today behind starter Josh Staumont. Mayers, who the Cardinals drafted, will make his third appearance this season for the Royals. In his first two outings, he was outstanding. He has a 3.89 SIERA, 33.3% K%, and 12.1% SwStr%.

He also has a 47.1% GB with a 23.5% hard-hit rate. Obviously, this is a limited sample size, but those numbers are elite. In his last start, he had eight strikeouts on 84 pitches. He threw his slider 35% of the time, which generated a 56% Whiff. He had 14 total Whiffs in his last start.

Mayers is a bit expensive on FanDuel at $8,000, but on DraftKings at $5,400, I love him as a value play. He will face the Cardinals, who are not an easy matchup. They have a 21.2% K%, 109 wRC+, .328 wOBA, and a .424 SLG against right-handed pitching this season.

The price is what makes Mayers intriguing here. Not often do we get a sub 5.5 K pitcher with a strikeout rate above 30% and a chance to throw 90 pitches. This may be our last chance to get Mayers at a discount. As a PLR, I can't see him getting much ownership here.

Also consider: Taj Bradley, J.P. France.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Christian Walker - 1B, ARZ vs. Kark Kauffmann ($4,400 DK, $3,300 FD)

Karl Kauffmann leads today's slate with a 5.80 SIERA and a 63.3% hard-hit rate. Righties have crushed him so far this season with a .557 wOBA, .263 ISO, and a 62.5% hard-hit rate. Over the last 30 days, Christian Walker has turned it on. He has a .322 wOBA, .214 wOBA, and a 47.2% hard-hit rate. Walker's price is low and gives us an upside with his power.

Vinnie Pasquantino - 1B, KC vs. Adam Wainwright ($4,200 DK, $3,100 FD)

Adam Wainwright has struggled since returning from the injured list. He has a 5.75 SIERA, 6.1% BB, and 28.0% hard-hit rate. Left-handed batters have crushed him to a .408 wOBA, .293 ISO, 42.1% FB, and a 44.7% hard-hit rate. Vinnie P. has a .343 wOBA, .232 ISO, and a 45.7% hard-hit rate against righties this season. This is a perfect matchup for Pasquantino.

Josh Jung - 3B, TEX vs. Matthew Boyd ($4,900 DK, $3,600 FD)

Josh Jung will square off against lefty Matthew Boyd this afternoon. Boyd has a 4.80 SIERA, a .345 wOBA, .186 ISO, 49.5% FB, and a 37.4% hard-hit rate against righties this season. Jung mashes lefties. He has a .425 wOBA, .319 ISO, and a 55.6% hard-hit rate against left-handed pitching. I expect Jung to get a hold of one here today.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. - OF, ARZ vs. Karl Kauffmann ($4,300 DK, $3,500 FD)

Lourdes Gurriel faces Karl Kauffmann this afternoon. As mentioned above when talking about Christian Walker, Kauffmann leads the slate in SIERA and hard-hit. He has also shown signs of reverse splits. Gurriel is also a reverse splits right-handed batter. He has a .380 wOBA, .311 ISO, and a 46.9% hard-hit rate this season. Over his last 30 days, he has had a .460 wOBA, .435 ISO, and a 49.0% hard-hit rate. He is my favorite play on the slate.

Adolis Garcia - OF, TEX vs. Matthew Boyd ($5,500 DK, $4,200 FD)

Garcia gets the same matchup mentioned above with Josh Jung. Garcia owns a .358 wOBA, .256 ISO, and a 39.4% hard-hit rate against lefties this season. Over his last 30 days, he has a .472 wOBA, .364 ISO, and a 44.4% hard-hit rate. Garcia is in a tremendous matchup and is trending in the right direction.

Byron Buxton OF, MIN vs. J.P. France ($5,800 DK, $3,600 FD)

Buxton faces J.P. France today. Although France has been excellent, he is susceptible to right-handed batters. So far this season, he has a .446 wOBA, .383 ISO, 51.4% FB, and a 45.9% hard-hit rate. This season against the split, Buxton owns a .365 wOBA, .261 ISO, and a 38.3% hard-hit rate. I don't love the Twins in this spot, but I like Buxton to get a hold of one.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Karl Kauffmann

The Diamondbacks will face Karl Kauffmann this afternoon at home. Kauffmann has been hit very hard in his first two starts in the big leagues. He has a 5.80 SIERA, 11.9% BB, 37.9% FB, and a 63.3% hard-hit rate. He has had one start in Coors and one at Globe Life. He has been a bit reverse splits through his first two starts with a .557 wOBA, .263 ISO, and a 62.5% hard-hit rate against righties. He has a .235 wOBA, .125 ISO, and a 50.0% hard-hit rate against lefties.

The Diamondbacks are eighth in baseball with a 105 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. They also have a .330 wOBA, .179 ISO, and a .438 SLG against the split. As mentioned above, Lourdes Gurriel is a fantastic play on today's slate because of the splits, but I will not be leaving out the left-handed bats in stacks. The Rockies bullpen is in the bottom half of baseball with a 4.16 SIERA and a 34.8% hard-hit rate. The Diamondbacks are my top stack on the board today.

Favorite Plays: Lourdes Gurriel, Christian Walker, Corbin Carroll, Geraldo Perdomo, Ketel Marte, Pavin Smith

2. Texas Rangers vs. Matthew Boyd

The Texas Rangers will square off against lefty Matthew Boyd. Boyd has a 4.80 SIERA and 9.6% BB. He dominates left-handed bats, so we will focus mainly on right-handed bats. He has a .345 wOBA, .186 ISO, 49.5% FB, and a 37.4% hard-hit rate against righties this season.

The Texas Rangers mash left-handed pitching. They are third in baseball with a 130 wRC+ and a .358 wOBA. They are seventh in baseball with a .457 SLG. Adolis Garcia, Josh Jung, and Jonah Heim are three of the best plays on the slate, and they will hit back-to-back-to-back in this lineup. The Tigers bullpen has a 3.87 SIERA and a 32.9% hard-hit rate. I love the Rangers here today.

Favorite Plays: Josh Jung, Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, Marcus Semien, Robbie Grossman, Corey Seager

Also Consider:

3. Kansas City Royals (Mini) vs. Adam Wainwright

4. Baltimore Orioles vs. Logan Allen
