DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/3/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

luis severino fantasy baseball rankings starting pitchers draft sleepers MLB injury news

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on October 3, 2022. Euan Leith's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Monday, RotoBallers! It's the final Monday of the 2022 regular season, and it's hard to believe another DFS campaign is drawing to a close. With 11 of the 12 playoff spots locked up, DFS managers will want to check out lineups closer to lock time. Even pitchers will be susceptible to an early yank as managers try to keep their rotations in line for the opening rounds of the postseason beginning on Friday.

Unlike last week's four-game slate, we get a classic 11 gamer to start our week—22 pitchers on the menu and a lot of high-quality arms to select from. Brandon Woodruff is the standout ace against an Arizona outfit looking towards their Thursday morning tee times. Aaron Nola and Lance McCullers Jr. meet each other, and it caps their ceiling for a win. That's only three of the seven aces above $9,000 on DraftKings, so it'll be important to nail your starting pitcher selection.

This article will always provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. Monday's main slate locks at 7:05 pm EST on 10/3/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite, high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Luis Severino at TEX ($9,800 DraftKings; $9,300 FanDuel)

In his previous start, Luis Severino only made it through four innings but threw an encouraging 76 pitches as he works back from a lengthy IL stint. Tonight is the final opportunity to stretch him out before the postseason, and New York should let him get to 80-85 pitches against Texas. In September, the Rangers strike out 27.3 percent of the time against right-handed hurlers, providing Severino with one of the better matchups among the $9,000 pitchers.

Patrick Sandoval at OAK ($7,700 DK; $9,000 FD) - Better on DraftKings

DFS managers shouldn't chase Patrick Sandoval on FanDuel as the $9,000 is a bit outlandish for a pitcher without a quality start since August. On DraftKings, it's tempting to roster two of the big guns tonight and find value with your bats. However, Sandoval's 23.7 percent strikeout rate and 46.9 percent groundball rate will combine well with Oakland's 26.8 percent strikeout rate versus RHPs in September and make him a superb SP2 option.

Also consider: Brandon Woodruff, Aaron Nola, Lance McCullers Jr., George Kirby, Joe Musgrove

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

J.D. Davis - 1B/3B, SFG at Joe Musgrove ($3,600 DK; $2,500 FD)

It feels like an oversight from the pricing guys that J.D. Davis is this cheap on both sites. Over his last 1o games, the 29-year-old is rocking a 1.168 OPS with five runs, three doubles, three home runs, and four RBI. He's batting in the heart of this San Francisco offense, and his .523 wOBA over the last week is second best among first basemen.

Luis Garcia - 2B/SS, WAS at Carlos Carrasco ($3,800 DK; $2,400 FD)

While you can only play Luis Garcia at shortstop on FanDuel, the 22-year-old middle infielder is worth a look on both sites. Over the last week, he has led shortstops in ISO (.278) thanks to hitting one of his seven home runs on the year.

Yandy Diaz - 1B/3B, TB at Rich Hill ($4,300 DK; $2,800 FD)

With the Rays flipping and flopping their lineups daily, Yandy Diaz's spot is one to watch. Over the weekend, he returned after a week-long absence, but started a game, sat a game, and came off the bench in a three-game set with Houston. Still, in the one game he did start, he hit leadoff versus a left-handed pitcher. In September, the Rays crushed southpaws with a .319/.405/.442 team slash line, so DFS managers will want a piece of that pie when Tampa Bay meets Rich Hill tonight.

Livan Soto - SS, LAA at Adrian Martinez ($2,400 DK; $2,600 FD)

If you're rolling with a Mets stack, you'll need to find some enablers. Livian Soto fits the description perfectly. First, he's cheap, and second, he's on a heater. Over the last 10 games, the Angels shortstop owns a 1.233 OPS with five runs, six extra-base hits, seven RBI, and a stolen base. He's climbed from the ninth to eighth to seventh spot in the batting order over the last week, and, with nothing to lose, the Angels should look to move him up more in their final regular-season series.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Julio Rodriguez - OF, SEA vs. Bryan Garcia ($5,900 DK; $4,000 FD)

According to reports, Seattle will activate Julio Rodriguez before Monday's game against the Tigers. Hopefully, the time off hasn't affected the AL Rookie of the Year contender too severely, as he was smacking the ball all over the diamond before his back injury. In the 10 games before hitting the IL, J-Rod was sporting a 1.404 OPS thanks to seven extra-base hits, including this one.

Jeff McNeil - 2B/OF, NYM vs. Cory Abbott ($4,200 DK; $2,600 FD)

Cory Abbott's been on the Monday slate for three weeks running and is a pitcher I tend to target. The surface numbers (5.91 ERA, 1.54 WHIP) are atrocious, and the underlying stats (6.9 percent K-BB%, 14.5 percent HR/FB) aren't much better. New York's backed itself into a corner as it needs to win out to have any chance at a postseason bye. With McNeil batting around Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor, he's one of the cheaper pieces of the Mets offense to grab.

Taylor Ward - OF, LAA at Adrian Martinez ($4,500 DK; $3,700 FD)

An outfield-eligible Angel leads the position in wOBA over the last week, and it's not Mike Trout or Shohei Ohtani. Yes, Taylor Ward is ending the season as well, as he started it before some mid-season slumping. In September, the 28-year-old hit .370/.425/.610 with six doubles, six homers, and 35 combined runs and RBI. Batting behind Trout and Ohtani is never bad, and getting that kind of exposure for Ward's price is quite the value.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

  • New York Mets vs. Washington Nati0nals (Cory Abbott, RHP)
  • Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox (Rich Hill, LHP)
