DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (10/20/22): MLB DFS Lineups

Giancarlo Stanton - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on October 20th, 2022. John Brubaker's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Thursday RotoBallers! This is John Brubaker dropping some of my favorite plays for today's ALCS showdown slate. It's the first showdown slate I've written up this year, but I wanted to do my part in helping you guys navigate your way into some coin tonight.

While it's only one game, we don't necessarily have a slate difference, although DraftKings does allow pitchers to be drafted while FanDuel doesn't. I will include pitchers in this article tonight, as I do see some value that I like here. I'll be writing up a starter and reliever, so let's take a look!

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel Showdown slate at 7:37 pm on 10/20/2022. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. Now that we got all of that out of the way, it's onto the picks!

DraftKings, FanDuel Captain/MVP Plays

Yordan Alvarez ($14,700 DK, $9,000 FD)

I'll start off today's slate with one of my guys, Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez projects just behind Aaron Judge in terms of my projections tonight, but I do prefer Yordan's platoon over Judge's slightly. Yordan projects to a 46.32% hard contact rate against Severino tonight, as well as a .854 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types. He's just 1-2 with a single and a walk against Severino, but it's just too difficult to fade "Air Yordan" anytime throughout the playoffs.

DraftKings Projection: 10.2 (Base), 15.3 (MVP)

FanDuel Projection: 13.91 (Base), 20.87 (MVP/STAR),

Giancarlo Stanton, ($13,800 DK, $7,500 FD)

I'll be looking at Stanton over Judge here, simply because of the price. Stanton went 2-4 with a double last night, following a strong performance in the ALDS where he rocked two homers. He matches up well with Houston southpaw Framber Valdez tonight, projecting to a 35.13% hard contact rate and .654 wOBA + ISO against his pitch types. He's also 4-8 with a double and a homer against Valdez for his career.

DraftKings Projection: 8.03 (Base), 12.05 (MVP)

FanDuel Projection: 10.89 (Base), 16.34 (MVP/STAR)

DraftKings, FanDuel Flex Plays

Luis Severino - ($10,400 DK, N/A FD)

As far as pitchers go, I'll take a look at Luis Severino tonight. While I don't necessarily expect Severino to dominate tonight, I did want to mention one starting pitcher, and I believe Severino is the one. He projects to just a 3.26 xFIP and a 34.35% strike out rate this evening. He's thrown a quality start in each of his two starts against the Astros this season, striking out seven and four batters, respectively. He did earn the loss in each of those starts, but I'm betting on him to get the win tonight.

DraftKings Projection: 18.4

FanDuel Projection: N/A

Gleyber Torres -  ($7,600 DK, $3,700 FD)

I'll take look at Gleyber Torres tonight as well. Torres has struggled this postseason, hitting just .130 with a .330 OPS across the first six games. However, he does project rather well against Valdez tonight. My model has him projected for a 35.21% hard contact rate and a .488 wOBA + ISO against Valdez's pitch types. He does hit lefties far better than righties, with a .621 wOBA + ISO against southpaws on the year, and despite being just 2-8 off of Valdez, one of those two hits was a homer. I'll shoot for upside with Gleyber here.

DraftKings Projection: 7.6

FanDuel Projection: 9.8

DraftKings, FanDuel Value Plays

Trey Mancini - ($5,200 DK, $5,500 FD)

I'll take a look at Trey Mancini as my second Astro tonight. Mancini projects a 35.17% hard contact rate and a .556 wOBA + ISO against Sevvy's pitch types tonight. He's rather familiar with Severino and the Yankees as well, playing in Baltimore for so many years. He's logged 17 at-bats against Severino in his career and comes into this one 6-17 with a homer.

DraftKings Projection: 7.6

FanDuel Projection: 9.87

Clay Holmes - ($4,000 DK, N/A FD)

While I probably won't bet on this one on a sportsbook, I'll "bet" on the Yankees to win this one. I can't imagine this one ending up being a blowout, so Clay Holmes will probably get the opportunity to pitch. In the six playoff games the Yankees have played, Holmes has pitched in four of them, so I'll take a shot with a min priced Holmes tonight.

DraftKings Projection: N/A

FanDuel Projection: N/A

Best of luck RotoBallers, see you next week!
