Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (8/31) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Sunday, September 1st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 1st. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • The Kraken has been released. Gary Sanchez. 32 Tub-Thumpers.
  • Anyone else surprised Aaron Judge even has 299 at-bats? 19HR is better in context.
  • Matt Olson w/27 taters and .269AVG. Wow! Make sure you send a thank you card to BABIP (.304)
  • Domingo German forced to wait for 18. At 27 years old, he has patience.
  • Rest does a body good. Yadier Molina w/4HR, 11RBI, .365AVG last 15 days. 68% owned. No respect!
  • Trevor Bauer struggles again. 4IP, 6ER. 2020 value meter fluctuating wildly.
  • Eugenio Suarez 39 long-balls is a career-high. So is his 28.5%K rate.
  • Dexter Fowler may have run afoul, but he’s still productive. 16th bloop over wall(409ft).
  • Dakota Hudson would have given me more wins than all my pitchers combined the last few months. The 7.1%K-BB scared me off.
  • Today, Josh VanMeter gives you a 411ft. sayonara(6).
  • Watch Your Back!! No, literally, Christian Yelich, you need to rest your back. No more steals(26) for my competitors, please.
  • Thunderstruck! Me when I see Josh Hader’s K rate (47%).
  • He’s a trickster, that Framber Valdez. A W against the Angels, a gut-punch vs. the Blue Jays (5.2IP, 6ER).
  • Three out of seven ain't bad. That was the song, right? Bo Bichette adds to SB tally. Fantasy fans swoon.
  • Bryce Harper gets his boy a combo meal. 7HR/19RBI/3SB/.293AVG last 15 days is a shiny toy.
  • Francisco Lindor hitting HR(26) as smooth as his Lindor truffles for the crowd's enjoyment.
  • Carlos Santana offers a variety of crowd-pleasers. 31 different flavors.
  • The Twins know how to start a party. Fireworks galore. Must be the Gemini in them.
  • Mitch Garver, just know that your 26 homers hold a special place in our fantasy heart.
  • Ronny Rodriguez extended his hotness w/two rolls of the long dice.
  • Stephen Strasburg was masterful. Welcome to the 14-Win club young man.
  • Juan Soto pleased with himself for arriving at 30. Anthony Rendon leaves the neighborhood w/two of his own(32).
  • Anthony Santander lifts the Orange & Black twice. More excitement to come.
  • Does Chance Sisco keep this momentum? Two HR in last week.
  • Hunter Dozier is cheap under-the-radar power CI guy for 2020.
  • Ladies & Gentlemen, this Reynaldo Lopez flight has been known to have turbulence (0.2IP, 6ER). Fly at your own risk.
  • Jaw-dropper of the day: Billy Hamilton hitting .455 last week.
  • He makes you look like a genius sometimes. Mallex Smith three-straight games w/double-digit hits & SB.
  • Has Justin Turner(26) been allowing Will Smith(13) to nip at the bottle of Giant’s Milk
  • Can we just give Wilmer Flores a week of southpaws so he can get regular playing time?
  • Eduardo Escobar(32) and company proving life after Goldie is profitable.
  • “Excuse me, did you ask for Kenley Jansen.” No, step aside. I’m looking for a Joe Kelly.
  • Where would you draft 12HR/.281AVG? Oh, he has 1B/2B eligibility too. Aww, but it’s Daniel Murphy in Coors.
  • Can somebody, anybody, please explain to me the Joe Musgrove Express?!
  • Thanks to a mid-season slumber Josh Bell is starting to thrive to finish the season.
  • Well done, Joey Lucchesi (6IP, 1ER). If only you could get more run support against Logan Webb(5.2IP, 1ER, 7K).
  • Have a great Sunday. Easy drive & early baseball. Enjoy last days of summer. Wear all your white pants before Labor Day.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
