Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (9/27) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Saturday, September 28th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 28th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Trea Turner still wants to get you that 20HR. Bless his heart.
  • Cavan Biggio as a 20/20 guy? Yeah, I’ll sign up for that.
  • Jose Berrios gets 14th W. Please send a Thank You card to Mother Nature.
  • Late season saviors, Jon Berti(17SB) & Tommy Edman(15SB) won’t stop running.
  • Adam Haseley, you can’t leave eight teammates marooned on deserted islands.
  • Kevin Newman w/double shot of espresso. 12HR, 16SB, .310AVG
  • Jose Peraza trying to sneak into our hearts at last minute. 2SB, .333AVG in last week. It’s too late.
  • Austin Meadows is a beast. 33HR, .293AVG.
  • The road is rocky. But the destination still gets Tommy Pham to 21HR, 23SB, .273AVG.
  • Oh yeah, I want many shares of Tyler Glasnow in 2020.
  • Pete Alonso is trying to give the Mets an offensive win here. 52 long balls for your enjoyment.
  • At this pace, there will be no Giancarlo Stanton discount next year. The upside is too good.
  • The judge is away so Brett Gardner sneaks in another dinger case. 28HR.
  • Danny Santana breakout year continues. 28HR is more than double of all previous years combined.
  • No doubt about it, Gio Urshela is slumping. Three taters are nice, but .212AVG in last 15 games? Thumbs down.
  • Charlie Blackmon (31HR) & Trevor Story (23SB) provide and provide.
  • Ryan McMahon doesn’t know who he is. High AVG in July(.313/4HR). Low AVG in Aug. (.248/8HR) & Sep. (.203/5JR).
  • Cubs win w/hapless lineup. Ian Happ was the source of fortune. 3-for-5 w/ninth tater.
  • You want Ks? Dakota Hudson gives you 10. Beast-mode! “Psst, it was vs Cubs Triple-A team…and he had 5BB”  This is my story!
  • Miguel Sano is the leadoff man of the future. Crusher. 34th display of destruction.
  • Respect. Ryan LaMarre (bad heist movie?) w/ combo meal (2nd HR/1st SB). No, Crystal burgers are delicious. Just need 28 of them.
  • People will bash Manny Machado for ONLY getting 31HR w/5SB & .253AVG. Not top-two round worthy. But look for value in 2020.
  • Shh. Jose Urquidy w/win. He might even start 2020 in the rotation. Put him on your short list, but don’t tell anyone.
  • Alex Bregman smacks the Toodle-ooo out of the cowhide (41).
  • Oops, nothing to see here. Yes, a Liam Hendriks stumbled. It’s ok. Move along.
  • Has Matt Olson told you lately that he loves you? A man of actions, not words. 36HR.
  • "Don’t forget about me guys.” ~ Corey Seager lofts his sixth love serenade in last 15 games.
  • Oh, we’re letting Will Smith’s steal bases now. (2). Thank you.
  • BP is proud to fuel your fantasy roster. Cody Bellinger(47HR) and Jon Pederson (36HR).
  • Have a great Saturday. Only a couple days left. Enjoy them to the very last drop.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
