Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (9/12) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the September 13th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on September 12th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Daily Musings

  • Dominic Smith is your MLB doubles leader (17). You were expecting someone else?
  • Buzz…You don’t need to do anything at all. The Dean Kremer buzz will build on its own.
  • I love Ryan Mountcastle, but don’t like his OF-only eligibility in 2021. Put Renato Nunez back at 3B so Mountcastle can reclaim 1B.
  • Send some good vibes to Matt Chapman (surgery). No, not to remove the 35% K rate.
  • You’re lying. You started Kolby Allard (1 IP, 5 ER, 1 K)? No, you don’t deserve it…well, maybe you do.
  • A few strikeouts don’t stop Miguel Sano (42%) & Joey Gallo (35%) from handing out homers (11 & 9, respectively)
  • What’s the quickest way to rekindle the friendship? Ozzie Albies thinks it’s SB (three in four games).
  • Seven-inning win vs Nats for Ian Anderson, but only 3 IP vs MIA prior. This is baseball.
  • Keep doing that, Patrick Corbin (7 IP, 2 ER, 8 K).
  • Bryce Harper (eight) isn’t first or second on his team in HR. Shouldn’t he be?
  • Fortune favors those bold enough to start Robbie Ray (second win).
  • Bo Bichette returns to bring championship home, but leaves it on base (six).
  • 12 & 4 taters for Austin Meadows & Brandon Lowe…Dang, it’s 2020. I meant, for B. Low and Meadows, respectively.
  • Tyler Glasnow will let you take whatever you want (6 SB), but demand the victory. (7 IP, 4 ER, 7 K).
  • Boring old vets & me. 2021 will bring Whit Merrifield back to me. His nine homers surpasses many.
  • Stop talking to ‘em, Jose Abreu. They’re just here for the free stuff. 5 R, 2 HR, 7 RBI. Trails only Tatis in R+RBI total.
  • I’ve got my eye on you, Willi Castro. .349 AVG is sexy. Watch out, people might call you the next Luis Arraez, but you’ve got more pop.
  • Can it be true? Tim Anderson (.358 AVG) wins the batting title again?
  • In the preseason we map out what could happen. NL gets DH; Ryan Braun gets more PT; He will be awesome. Four HR, .226 AVG isn’t what we expected.
  • Will the masses be impressed enough, Trevor Story (10 HR, 14 SB, .299 AVG). 2021 will tell.
  • Jose Ramirez managers enjoy the fruits of the 11 HR/10 SB labor.
  • Terrible to see Brent Rooker injury. Get well soon, young man.
  • It’s not all rosy in the Zach Plesac Manor (7 IP, 5 ER, 5 K)
  • Jared Walsh, what did you put into your Cocoa Pebbles? 5 HR, 19 R+RBI, .370 AVG last week.
  • Ty France offers another plate of delicious beignets (4).
  • Dakota Hudson victories are baffling.
  • See, I knew it! Zac Gallen is terrible (5 IP, 7 ER, 5 BB, 6 K). We were duped at #FPAZ. Stay away in 2021. ('Scratch ’N’ Sniff edition.' Scratch & put nose  ***HERE*** to smell that very faint aroma of sarcasm. (Touch screen required).

  • Red Hots Update:
  • Finally, people listen. No, not to me but to the universe. Adalberto Mondesi is 85% rostered after four combo meals in six games.
  • Josh Bell has 9 H, 2 HR in last 18 AB. Trip to CIN soon might help forget the woes.
  • Rougned Odor loves streaking. Two-straight homer (five) games almost qualifies.
