Daily Fantasy WNBA Lineup Picks (8/22/17): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings

Dennis Clausen's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/22/17. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings.

The WNBA  features a two game slate on Tuesday night. The Lynx will square off against the retuning Brittney Griner and the Mercury while the Sparks will look to gain ground on Minnesota as they host the Stars.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/22/17. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. All "fantasy points" and salary references are exclusive to the DraftKings scoring system. As always, check player statuses prior to lock time.

WNBA - DFS Guards for DraftKings

Chelsea Gray – G, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars ($8,900)

We are going to be featuring a lot of Sparks in this article so we will start out with Chelsea Gray. Gray has been playing at a high level as of late, including a 53 fantasy point outing against the Chicago Sky last week. With Los Angeles looking to catch Minnesota for the top seed in the playoffs, Gray should be extra motivated to produce.

Odyssey Sims – G, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars ($8,500)

Even though Odyssey Sims has been playing well as of late, she has lost some of her appeal due to her rising fantasy price. She has been very inconsistent this season and will often see stints of streaky production. However, she has hit at least 30 fantasy points in her last three games and has taken at least nine field goal attempts in eight of her last nine games. Though Chelsea Gray is priced a tad higher, I prefer Sims. However, I may roll with both of them in a few lineups as well.

Kayla McBride – San Antonio Stars @ Los Angeles Sparks ($7,100)

Kayla McBride is one of the only consistent players on the Stars' roster. Though some of her teammates have the potential to put up efficient fantasy numbers, they come with risks. McBride generally plays well every game and has hit at least 20 fantasy points in 11 out of her last 12 games. She is a good play in tournaments, but gains even more appeal in 50/50 or double-up formats due to her nearly guaranteed ability to get fantasy points.

Alana Beard – G, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars ($5,500)

While players such as Renee Montgomery and Danielle Robinson are priced nearly the same, you are likely to see better production out of the defensively sound Alana Beard. If you are looking to find some value and save some cash, check out Beard.

Essence Carson – G, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars

If you are really strapped for cash, consider Essence Carson. Since returning from an elbow injury last week, she is averaging 22 minutes and 17 fantasy points per game. Not too bad considering her asking price. Keep in mind that we have the potential for a blowout on Tuesday night, which makes Carson even more desirable as she will likely see more minutes if  that does occur.

WNBA - DFS Forwards for DraftKings

Candace Parker – F, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars ($13,400)

Though she is arguably the best player in the league, Candace Parker is priced very, very high. She is averaging 40 fantasy points per game and if you are comfortable paying the price, she will be more than worth it. Just keep in mind that if a blowout happens, Parker will be sitting more than usual.

Sylvia Fowles – F, Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury ($12,600)

Sylvia Fowles has seen a slight decrease in production over the past few games, averaging 32 fantasy points over a two game span. She always has the potential to have 40 or 50 fantasy point games so she will be a good choice on Tuesday night despite the high price and matching up against Brittney Griner.

Nneka Ogwumike – F, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars ($11,700)

If you are looking for an elite player on Tuesday night and don’t feel like paying for Sylvia Fowles or Candace Parker, give Nneka Ogwumike a chance. Though she has struggled a little as of late, she rebounded in her last game against the Chicago Sky with a 32 point performance that was paired with 10 boards and three steals. We know that we get extra bonus points for double-doubles, something Ogwumike has a good chance of getting against the Stars.

Plenette Pierson – F, Minnesota Lynx vs Phoenix Mercury ($5,100)

Plenette Pierson has stepped it up since Rebekkah Brunson went down with an ankle injury. She rolls with the starting unit and is averaging 21 fantasy points over the past two games. She isn’t going to get you huge numbers, but will get you something. She is a good pickup if you are short on cash.

Jantel Lavender F, Los Angeles Sparks vs San Antonio Stars ($4,700)

Jantel Lavender is averaging 16 fantasy points over the past three games. She could see more than that if Los Angeles blows out the Stars, which could easily happen on Tuesday night.
