Daily Fantasy Golf DraftKings Picks (PGA DFS): Dell Technologies Championship

Welcome back RotoBallers! Bryson DeChambeau (-18) went wire-to-wire to win The Northern Trust by four strokes over Tony Finau. This was the 10th consecutive tournament the winner has won by at least two strokes dating back to the Travelers Championship.

This week I will be providing you with my DraftKings lineup picks for the Dell Technologies Championship*. My goal as always is to help put together your optimal daily fantasy golf lineups. If anyone has lineup questions before the start of the championship Thursday morning, feel free to contact me via Twitter @SethFinkTV.

*This tournament begins on Friday and ends Monday

A quick word about the golf season at this stage. What is the PGA of America doing having this meaningless playoff system at the end of summer? The majors are over. People are tuned out. Until the Ryder Cup next month, there's nothing exciting happening. College football returns this weekend. The NFL next weekend. How does golf expect anyone to stay inside Labor Day weekend and then watch golf over college football? Something with the end of the season needs to be done because there are nearly no story lines at this stage in the season.

Editor's Note: Our friends at Fantasy National have built some incredible DFS Golf lineup tools including a Lineup Optimizer, Stat Engine, Ownership Projections and Course Breakdowns. They are by far the best daily fantasy Golf tools in the industry. Seriously. You can read all about them here and see screenshots.

Dell Technologies Championship

The second round of the FedEx Cup Playoff heads to TPC Boston in Norton, MA.

The par-71 plays to around 7,350 yards. It has four par-3's, 11 par-4's, and three par-5's. The greens are bent grass with smaller sizes.

Let's take a look at the stats.

Stat TPC Boston Tour Average
Driving Distance 284 283
Driving Accuracy 65% 61%
GIR Percentage 66% 65%
Scrambling Percentage 60% 57%
Three Putts/Round 0.562 0.555

Past winners are Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Chris Kirk, Henrik Stenson, McIlroy, Webb Simpson, and Charley Hoffman.

Only the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup Standings advance to the BMW Championship next week.

Henrik Stenson has the most total strokes gained through the past five years with 33.42. Day is next with 28.33 followed Jordan Spieth, 23.78 and Kirk, 22.33. Paul Casey rounds out the top five with 21.17.

In Vegas, as of Tuesday on sportsbook.ag, Dustin Johnson is the favorite at 9-1 followed by Justin Thomas, 11-1. Brooks Koepka and Jason Day are next at 12-1 followed by Tiger Woods at 14-1.

Stats I'm looking at

As much as I like to look at stats, it is the playoffs and I value players needing a good tournament to continue on in the playoffs.

With the results, I keyed on the following.

Fantasy Golf Lineup Picks for DraftKings (PGA DFS)

High-Priced Players

There are five players this week priced above $10,000: Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, and Jordan Spieth.

Johnson ($11,600) - DJ finished T-11 last week after shooting three rounds in the 60s. As well as he played (-11), that's not DJesque and is not worth his price. Unless he finishes top-3, which I don't think will happen, he won't justify this price. He was T-8 two years ago and T-18 last year at this event.

Thomas ($11,400) - The defending champ is playing his best golf right now. It's just too bad not many are paying attention. In his last 12 rounds, he's shot all rounds in the 60s. Those three tournament scores average to a -12. Despite me not liking to pay these high prices, he's worth it.

Koepka ($11,000) -  I wrote last week about Koepka, "I'm gonna have to pass until he shows he wants to compete at a tournament that's not a major." He did that last week finishing T-8. He has improved each of his three years at this event from being cut, to a T-57, and a T-18 last year.

McIlroy ($10,600) - After winning this championship two years ago, he was cut at last years. He has not played since the PGA Championship, but should be ready to shoot low on this course.

Day ($10,400) - The top-20 machine did it for the fifth straight tournament placing T-20. In the past five years here, he has not finished outside the top-25 once. The long 200+ yard approach shots will suit him and his ball flight so well. His chipping and putting are world class. It's just a matter of him putting four strong rounds together.

Spieth ($10,000) - By Spieth standards, this is a lost year as he hasn't won a major. Besides for that, he's struggled immensely with his putter. His putter was his strongest club the past couple years and all of a sudden it's his Kyrptonite. He was T-25 last week with three rounds in the 70s. His inconsistency will drive you nuts. This is a hard pass until he gets his putting figured out.

Middle-Priced Players

Bryson DeChambeau ($8,700) - He's off a dominating win last week. This will be his second time playing this tournament (T-30 last year) and his stats are so good (see below).

Paul Casey ($7,900) - Another disappointing performance for Casey after a T-60 last week. However, I'll give this one more shot with him based on the fact he's fifth in total strokes gained here the past five years. He was second in 2016 and T-4 last year.

Zach Johnson ($7,500) - He's made his last five cuts at this event and eight on tour. He currently sits 53rd in the FedEx Cup standings so he'll make next week's event (top 70 advance), but he'll be outside the cut line there as only the top 30 advance to the Tour Championship. He needs to get a top 10 and he knows it.

Low-priced Players

Chris Kirk ($6,800) - He's not missed a cut in 12 straight tournaments dating back to the Houston Open the first week of April. He's a former champion here (2014) and made the cuts the other four times. He currently sits 64th in the FedEx Cup standings so he knows a solid performance is a must.

Ollie Schniederjans ($6,500) - For old time's sake, let's go with Ollie! One of my favorite golfers on tour because he strays from the norm not wearing a hat. He currently sits 95th in the FedEx Cup standings so a great tournament is a must.

Best of luck RotoBallers and be sure to look out for another article coming next week for week for BMW Championship!
