Daily MLB Recap of April 3rd Action: Casey at Bat

MLB Roundup & Fantasy Analysis from April 3rd's Action

The Marlins, yes those Marlins, in that ridiculous stadium with 20 foot walls and fishtanks and the obscure statue in centerfield...they are 3-1. Not only are they 3-1 but they are hitting on all cylinders. Casey McGehee, hitting behind Giancarlo Stanton has a Major League leading 8 RBI. The fish will probably flounder but their approach has been great thus far. They have a strong bullpen, young starters with potential so hey, why not them?

Hot Shots:

SELL HIGH ON BONIFACIO!!! Don't say I did't tell you. I just did. Loudly (hence the exclamation points)

Brandon Belt is raking. He's 6-18 with 3 HR and 5 RBI thus far.

Paul Goldschmidt absolutely OWNS Tim Lincecum. After homering and doubling off Timmeh!! yesterday Goldy is a sizzling 12 for 23 lifetime with 6 bombs! Yowza, hope you had him in your daily lineups like me yesterday! $$$

Don't jump the gun on Pedro Strop (yet), Veras pitched a lot and was unavailable and is definitely still the closer in Chicago.

AL Notes:

Abraham Almonte went 2-for-4 with a BB, SB, RBI and a run scored. The Mariners lead-off hitter has sneaky fantasy value with the suddenly potent Seattle lineup.

Coco Crisp hit a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the 12th to defeat the Mariners. Yoenis Cespedes was 1-for-5 with an RBI triple.

Xander Bogaerts was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored as the Red Sox topped the Orioles.

Yangervis Solarte lead the Yankees to their first victory with a 3-for-3 effort while scoring twice and driving in a run. Solarte is not fantasy relevant yet. Dexter Fowler continued his hot hitting with another 2 hit performance with a run and an RBI.

Evan Longoria went yard and knocked in 3 RBI for the Rays and Chris Archer stuck out 7 over 6 solid innings as Tampa Bay took care of the Jays 7 - 2.

Chris Colabello collected 6 RBI as the Twins edged the White Sox 10-9 in a wintery slugfest.  Jose Abreu continues to prove he can flat out hit with a 2-for-4 performance and 4 RBI. Josmil Pinto slugged a homer (his bat will get him in the lineup consistently very soon). Marcus Semien homered along side Adam Dunn (2) and Alejandro De Aza (3). Jose Quintana did stike out 8 over 6 IP but the bullpen got hammered.

NL Notes:

Matt Adams was 3 for 5 without an RBI or Run scored as the Cardinals fell to the Reds thanks to two homers from Todd Frazier. Jay Bruce and Jhonny Peralta also homered.

Mike Olt started at 3B and homered for the Cubs as Jason Hammel was very solid allowing 1 ER over 6.2 IP with 5 K. Pedro Strop got the save due to Jose Veras being unavailable after a high workload the previous day.

Tanner Roark out-dueled Zack Wheeler for the win behind some hot offense by the Nats. Ryan Zimmerman homered and Adam LaRoche knocked in 3 more RBI.

Casey McGehee continued his hot start with a 2-for-3 performance driving in 3 RBI driving his season total to 8. Giancarlo Stanton is equally locked in as he was 2-for-4 driving in 1. Steve Cishek nailed down his second save with 1 K.

Paul Goldschmidt is still Tim Lincecum's worst nightmare as he hit his 6th homer in 23 career AB off the Giants starter. Mark Trumbo also launched a dinger for the Snakes.

Brandon Belt is unconscious right now and has 3 HR on the season after adding one Thursday. Brandon Hicks hit a solo job and Angel Pagan swatted a 3 run bomb in the game. Pagan was 3-for-5 on the day is now hitting a robust .421 over his first 19 AB.

My Daily Fantasy Baseball (DFS) Picks to Click for Friday:

Jose Abreu - why? THE DUDE CAN RAKE and Jeremy Guthrie doesn't miss many bats. BOOM.

Miguel Montero - facing Juan Nicasio seems like a dandy treat for the lefty slugging catcher. He's 2-for-7 with a HR off Nicasio.

Jennry Mejia - VALUE!!! His talent is immense and his price is LOW! Not many people will have the Roto-Balls to start him...do you?
