Week 2 Cut List - Players on the Chopping Block

NFL players to consider cutting, dropping or benching for Week 2 of the 2017 season. Jason's list of fantasy football busts, injuries, and overrated players.

Plainly and simply, this will be your weekly list of those end-of-roster guys that you can safely let go of, with the occasional unfortunate star player that finds his way here due to injury.

Below are my Week 2 cuts and drops for fantasy football. Each week from now until the end of the season, I’ll be offering my thoughts on players who don’t deserve to keep a roster spot on your fantasy football teams.

Let's get to it.

Players to Consider Dropping or Replacing

Allen Robinson (WR, JAX)

Unfortunately, ARob tore his ACL on Sunday. Allen Hurns or Keelan Cole are the beneficiaries.

Kevin White (WR, CHI)

You never should've drafted Kevin White anyway, but now you can safely drop him. He fractured his scapula and will miss at least the next eight weeks. He's not particularly good even when he plays. Josh Bellamy took over for White, but this is a situation to avoid.

Dion Lewis (RB, NE)

I don't think many people drafted Dion Lewis anyway, but if you did, you can safely let him go. He's clearly fourth on the RB depth chart. You never need a fourth RB on your team.

Eddie Lacy (RB, SEA)

I told you all offseason - Eddie Lacy is terrible at football. Even with Thomas Rawls out, Lacy was completely ineffective. Chris Carson is the back to own in Seattle, but given their offensive line, you should start none of them,

Jaron Brown (WR, ARI)

Bruce Arians said he was the number two. Well, so much for that. John Brown is the man next to Larry Fitzgerald and Carson Palmer might just be done. Jaron can safely be let go.

David Johnson (RB - ARI)

This one hurts more than you can ever imagine. David Johnson has dislocated his wrist and this will effectively end his season. The Cardinals offense looked awful and after DJ went down, they could barely move the ball. Carson Palmer is very close to done. He may already be there. Johnson could return around week 13, but by then the Cardinals are likely to be well out of the playoff picture and will have nothing to gain by playing their franchise player in meaningless end of season contests. You can hold him for a bit longer to confirm that he will be placed on IR, especially given that you shouldn't have to drop anyone until waivers clear on Wednesday, but it looks like the consensus top pick in fantasy will not play again until 2018.

Darren McFadden (RB, DAL)

Don't cut him just yet. I am putting his name here to let you know that once we are sure Ezekiel Elliott is playing the season, McFadden no longer needs to be owned. The NFL filed an appeal of Zeke's injunction. I believe they are unlikely to succeed. Once that is confirmed, which could be as soon as this week, Elliott will be all but certain to play the entire 2017 season. McFadden wasn't even active on Sunday night. Unless Zeke gets hurt, DMC has absolutely no value. He's purely a handcuff. If you need to cut someone, once we know the NFL's appeal has been unsuccessful, you can cut McFadden.
