ANALYSIS: Oakland Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas has been one of the most impressive hitters in the minor leagues this season and is making a case to make his major league debut in the stretch run of the season.
The Mercer product opened the season by making his Double-A debut and posted an excellent .282/.340/.568 line with 14 home runs, 47 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and a 17:47 BB:K ratio.

He then earned a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas on June 18 and has looked just dominant there. Through his first 18 games at the top level of the minor leagues, the 23-year-old has held a stellar .290/.395/.507 line with three home runs, nine RBI, two stolen bases, and a 7:22 BB:K ratio.
Given how fast he has progressed through the minor leagues since joining the Oakland system in 2022 as a third-round draft pick, Thomas has a chance to make his major league debut this season especially if he continues to play at this elite level.
