Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (3/21/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 3/21/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! Welcome everyone to Stage 2 of COD League! What a start to Stage 2, the third day of Stage 2 did not disappoint as Optic beat Paris 3-1, Florida made insanely quick work as they swept Minnesota, and the best game of the year came down to the final .2 seconds as Octane was unable to get the diffuse in Round 11 of Game of SnD against Dallas. That game was what I love to see in COD, it was a great game to watch.

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. Welcome back to another great weekend of COD DFS!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Sunday, March 21st, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Toronto Home Series

Best of 5

  • LA Guerrillas (-200) vs. London Royal Ravens (+160)
  • Atlanta FaZe (-750) vs. Toronto Ultra (+450)
  • LA Thieves (+115) vs. NY Subliners (-150)

Slate Overview

The last two teams we haven't seen so far in Stage 2, Guerrillas are definitely the better team here as London is struggling to keep their roster together and have had 2 new players in the last two weeks join the squad in Zed and Paulehx. This worries me with the fact, how much time did they have to practice especially with the new meta let alone half a new team. This could be a struggle spot for London and a place LAG can advantage and get a much-needed win if they want to continue to contend in the CDL. Assault and Silly are playing very well right now and this should be a great match to start the stage for both these teams.

FaZe is just unstoppable, they are making these teams look like a bunch of scrubs that I play in normal League Play. They are going to be a tough team to stop and I just don't think Toronto is the team to do that. FaZe is better in every game mode and if Toronto has any chance it'll be in hardpoint. So give me 3-0 here. Not much more to say about that.

This one is going to be a fun one to watch, both these teams match up very closely, and honestly, it's hard to even pick a team to win here. I'm going with Subliners to win, as Thieves have been kinda off since losing to Guerrillas in the Major a couple of weeks ago. They barely squeaked out a win against Toronto in Game 5. Subliners also have lost their last two but against Dallas and Atlanta who are the top 2 teams in the league. This game is going to be a real insight on who could be the better team here. I expect it to go all 5 games with Subliners coming out on top. If you can watch this one, it's going to be bloody.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Abezy: We all know and love SIMP but let's be real here, he is too expensive. Yes, he is a guaranteed 100 points pretty much but I like the 1,200$ discount we get on Abezy for almost the same production but with a little bit more boom in some games. He's averaging 108 DKP per game and has a nice floor of 90 in at least every game this season with 4 games of 100 or better. This matchup against Toronto I expect to be a quick one. If Atlanta is taking out teams like NYS in 4 games, Toronto isn't any better than that. Atlanta should be able to come in and straight dominate this matchup. We just have to hope that it doesn't end too quickly. Cellium is also a good pivot here as well and is a bit cheaper.

SiLLY: Silly has been the most impressive player out of LAG, this season and definitely been the most consistent. He's been able to go positive 5 of his 7 games this season and that's with a few losses mixed in there as well. I like the upside we get on Silly as he has two massive games of 90+ kills this year so far and in both of those games, he had 110+ DKP. He also has 90+ in 5 of 7 games as well. I love the matchup against London who hasn't won a single game this season and have switched their roster up twice now. I can see this leading to communication issues and giving LAG a major edge coming into this one. If this game ends in a sweep Silly could be a great option to have in your lineups or even at captain as he can score very well tonight.

Other captain plays: Simp(DUH), Assault, Clayster, Slasher

COD DFS Value Plays

Arcitys: 6,600 with a possible sweep on the line. It's just too cheap for him. He doesn't have a high ceiling but if it does end in a sweep Arcitys should get around 90 -100 DKP and for 6,600 that is going to be more than enough and will help grab more than one top player on the slate. In the two sweeps, Arcitys has had this season he got 131 DKP. That's damn good for his price. He did have 82 points in his last game against NYS and for his price now that's an okay score. But when he was at 8k no way that's good. So we do need a good performance from him if this match does go to 4 games.

Mack: Mack has been a pretty boom or bust play so far this season, but in 5 games this season he has had 94+ DKP. He has a lot of upside in 5 game matches. He struggled in his last outing against FaZe but that's FaZe and everyone struggles against them. He's been one of the more consistent players for the Subliners and is averaging over 22 Kills per 10 minutes in both Control and Hardpoint this season. And if we get Hardpoint twice, Mack could be looking at a 70+ kill performance, he just needs to keep his deaths down and he can score insanely well. He has a 1.01 K/D overall and 1.09 in Control which is top 10 in the league. This is going to be a bloody match, and if Mack can go off he should pay off his 7,800$ price tag fairly nicely.

Other value plays: Temp, Vivid, Apathy, Insight(PUNT/GPP)

COD DFS Stacks

Atlanta FaZe: It is going to be tough to get more than 1 or 2 of these guys in, they are just getting so up at price but they are just so good, and Atlanta is going to be a tough team to shut down this year. Simp, Abezy, and Cellium all had 110 DKP in their last game out against NYS. They are all solid plays and just picking the correct one is going to be difficult because any one of them can go off at any time, making multiple lineups with different variations of these guys could be the way to go. Arcitys was definitely the odd man out here as he only scored 82 points. He is insanely cheap at 6,600 this time out but still is really only worth his price if he can get the sweep bonus.  He just doesn't get the number of kills the rest of the team does. Toronto looked quite a bit better with the addition of Insight into the roster over Methodz as Insight broke some records but a game against Thieves is quite a bit different than a game against the might FaZe.

LA Guerrillas: Guerrillas have looked better and even pulled off the major upset against LA Thieves in the first game of the first Major. They were bounced out quickly though with losses against Atlanta and NYS. They are playing the worst team in the CDL currently and have yet to win a match this year. I'm fairly confident in LAG being able to bring them down as well. LAG has looked a lot better since the start of the season and is superior on Hardpoint and SnD. Both teams have struggled on Control and so I do give London a chance to pull off one win. Otherwise, this game should end in either a sweep or 3-1 win. London has been making roster moves too and might struggle at the beginning as the communications might not be as on point as they can be with two new people. They have had time to practice though. SiLLY, Assault, and Vivid are definitely the best place to start here with a LAG stack. Assault and Silly are up there in price though and it can make it difficult to get multiple guys especially if stacking with FaZe. Apathy has looked good in games LAG has won and if they do win this I don't mind Apathy either but prefer Vivid for 600$ more.

Other Team Plays: NY Subliners, LA Thieves

Summary

  1. TLDR: Atlanta 3-0, LAG 3-1, NY Subliners 3-2
  2. Atlanta is about the only team that I'm confident in. All players are viable, don't love Arcitys but if they sweep Arcitys will score well.
  3. London has been pretty bad and they are making roster moves all over the place. Alexx and Parasite are out, Zed and Paulehx are in. This matchup is going to be interesting. My lean is LAG though as they have improved in recent games but London with a new roster could make a move and make an upset. Seany and Zed are where I would start to look if you want to go London.
  4. This Subliners/Thieves game is going to be a crazy one. These guys' matchup is insanely close. Both teams have been good in all three game modes, I give the edge to Subliners in Hardpoint and SnD but it's not by much. A game to look at players more than stacks. Clayster, Slasher, DiamondCon, Temp would be the players I would look at first.
