Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (2/18/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 2/14/21. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! My Name is Koby and I'll be here all season long to help guide you through the COD DFS world. Welcome back to another great week of COD DFS! I'm excited to dive back into this week's slate of games after a great first week. For Thursday we have LA Guerrillas facing off against Florida Mutineers and Toronto Ultra against Optic Chicago. On Friday we Have the Surge of Seattle taking on Minnesota Rokkr and New York Subliners against the London Royal Ravens. So let's hop into it!

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and I finally get to put all this knowledge to the test!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Thursday and Friday, February 18-19, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Atlanta Home Series

Best of 5

  • Florida Mutineers (-500) vs. LA Guerrillas (+315)
  • Seattle Surge (+325) vs. Minnesota Rokkr (-500)
  • Optic Chicago (-280) vs. Toronto Ultra (+200)
  • London Royal Ravens (+180) vs. New York Subliners (-245)

Slate Overview

This is going to be a great slate of games and I'm excited to watch them and is going to give us a great idea of who is going to separate them from the rest of the pack. Lots of middle-of-the-pack teams playing here and it will give us an idea in the future as to who we pick. No Atlanta Faze and No Dallas Empire to clog up the chalk of the day. Florida Mutineers and Optic Chicago look to be the best teams here as well as Minnesota after their massive upset over Dallas on Sunday. I just can't seem to get this team right I picked them to beat LA Thieves on Thursday and they got blown out of the water and then picked against them just for them to win. So who knows Seattle might pull off a big upset this week which is always possible with Octane who helped lead the team to a victory over London on Sunday.

Toronto looked really good in their first match against Florida and they could be darkhorse in future games and if they can pull off an upset of Chicago, I don't think they will be darkhorse for very long. I do like Optic to take this one though. With the exception of S&D as Optic has not been a great Search team this season so far. The close match is New York Subliners and London Royal Ravens. It's a tough pick but I'm going Subliners as they have more experienced talent on their team in Clayster, Mack, and Asim. Although the rookie in Diamoncon needs to step in big ways to make this team a contender. Give me NYS to win 3-1.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20 point player sweep and a 5 point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Neptune/Owakening: I knew as soon as Neptune got a chance his price would skyrocket and well that's exactly what happened. He is now are highest priced player in probably the best spot on this slate. It makes is extremely difficult to get both him and Owakening so more than likely you are going to have to make a choice. Either way you are going to be getting a player that scores really well and if Florida sweeps like I expect them too. Both Neptune and Owakening should be scoring 120+ points which can be a 180 in the captain spot.  Neptune should only get better from here with experience and Owakening started off great as well and that should continue even in losses he had 90+ kills.

Dashy: Dashy against FaZe dropped a casual 99 kills and only 83 deaths. Dropping a near 1.2 K/D against one of the best teams in the league. He is playing at an insane pace right now and he has a really good matchup against Toronto on Friday. If this match goes 4 games as I think it does. Dashy could be up for another 90+ kill performance and an insanely high statline to go with it. Dashy is a very great option at Captain and probably one of my favorites to be rostered this slate.

Other captain plays: Attach, Octane, Clayster, Envoy

COD DFS Value Plays

Slacked: Slacked had a rough match against Toronto but he is simply too cheap for a possible sweep bonus and more than likely will be very chalky coming into this slate. It could be worth the chalk though as with a sweep bonus he has 100+ DKP upside and ill take that for the 6,200 and if you put him in the captain spot and he gets over that 100+ point mark he will score 150+ and that allows you to get some higher-priced players which can be a game-changer in getting a high score and possibly pulling a takedown.

Mack:  It's hard to gauge Mack's performance off one game against a tough opponent in LA Thieves. Last year Mack was a feared opponent as he could take over games and cause havoc on the battlefield and I think this is an excellent place for him to make a rebound in a more favorable matchup and we get him at only 8k which is great for someone who averaged nearly 100 DKP per match last year. If this match goes to 4 games, Mack has 90+ kill potential and he will need to step up big this week against London to make sure to get a dub on the board this week as they play Minnesota on Sunday in a tougher matchup.

Other value plays: Formal, Scump, Asim, Priestahh

COD DFS Stacks

Florida: I know, I hyped them up last week big time and they got mopped by Toronto. But this is a get right spot against LAG who is a bottom 4 team in the league and Florida can take advantage of this as they are a lot better than they showed on Saturday. They still scored very well all dropping over 100 points and Neptune and Owakening dropping 90+ kills. Neptune is a fantastic player and I knew as soon as he got the chance and showed it he was going to get a price jump and he did quickly. It's a hefty price to pay for him but if he can continue his tear on the league his price will be worthy. Owakening did great as well, and I do believe that Slacked is still too cheap for his potential upside. Skyz looked very poor and I do think this hurt Florida on Saturday and he will need to step it up to make this team a contender in the league.

Optic Chicago: Poor Optic choked against FaZe in the final seconds of hardpoint in game 4 and then got straight blown out of the water in S&D in game 5. All players did end up scoring well except Formal and Cellium who unfortunately I was heavy on. Optic is going to need to step up their game in S&D if they want any chance at a championship run. Toronto is pretty good at S&D and that's why I do think this match goes to 4 games. Optic excels at hardpoint though and they can get some high scores if they do manage to get both hardpoint matches. Dashy has been a great pickup for Optic so far this year and if Formal can get his head back into the game this is going to be a dangerous team in the future. Envoy and Scump are also playing at elite levels and are great mid-priced plays as well.

Other Team Plays: Minnesota, New York Subliners, London Royal Ravens

Summary

  1. TLDR: Florida 3-0, Minnesota 3-1, Optic Chicago 3-1, New York Subliners 3-1.
  2. I think the best chance of an upset here is London over New York as both of these teams are middle to lower-tier teams and really anything can happen at the bottom.
  3. Florida is going to be the clear team to start your stacks with. Yes, it's expensive but they are the clear team to go and get the sweep here. Chicago would be my close second for another team to pull off a sweep.
  4. Seattle looked good against London on Sunday and I think they continue the momentum into this one taking on Minnesota who upset Dallas.
