Austin Reaves is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 23 of the 2022-23 NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 27% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Salute Los Angeles Lakers starting forward Austin Reaves! Yessir, that's correct. Reaves has been so good (and injuries to his teammates so bad) that he's snatched a role as a starter and he's been on the starting five for the past two games the Lake Show has played through Friday.
An upcoming FA, you bet Reaves is about to fill his bag. But that's a story for another time. For what interests us fantasy GMs now and ROS, Reaves has turned into a must-add for nearly every GM in any type of league and whatever format it happens to run with.
Reaves was already great as a second-unit player, but he's been similarly good starting and getting nearly 40 MP per game in his last two games this week against Phoenix and OKC. He scored 25 to go with 11 dimes and 4 boards in the former and then had an 11-6-9 game in the latter.
The wing can do it all from the two to the four spots in the lineup and provides a lot (a lot) of scoring upside on low-volume shot attempts with unreasonable percentages.
He adds rebounds, is tasked with handling some of the creative parts of the gameplan adding dimes to his stat lines, is adept at visiting the charity stripe, and even on below-average usage rates he's still producing fantasy goodies like a mad man.
