Fantasy Football Quarterbacks I'm Targeting

Jalen Hurts, PHI (QB2) - Did you know between Week 1 and 7 last season, Hurts put up the third-most fantasy points at the quarterback position alongside Josh Allen and Tom Brady? So what happened after Week 7? Well, the Eagles traded away Zach Ertz and were left with just two elite pass-catching options in DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. What did Philadelphia do this offseason? They traded for one of the league's most elite wide receivers in A.J. Brown. Prepare for liftoff!

Kirk Cousins, MIN (QB11) - Did you see what Kevin O'Connell did with Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles last season? If you missed it, Stafford threw for 4,886 yards and 41 touchdowns. And that came after just a 4,084 yards, 26 touchdowns season for Stafford. Last season, Captain Kirk threw for 4,221 yards and 33 touchdowns under a "conservative" head coach in Mike Zimmer. Cousins finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback last season, and that should be considered a relatively safe floor in 2022.

Others I'm Targeting: Trey Lance, Trevor Lawrence, Daniel Jones

Fantasy Football Quarterbacks I'm Avoiding

Tom Brady, TB (QB15) - The wheels have to fall off soon, right? We said the same thing last year and Brady went on to finish as a top-five quarterback in fantasy football. However, this season there are some offensive line and wide receiver injuries to take note of. Not only that, but his buddy (and safety valve) Rob Gronkowski is no longer with the team. Without the rushing upside of many other quarterbacks in the top-10, Brady would have to put up another 40-touchdown season to remain in the top-10. And his extended absence from training camp doesn't make me feel any better.

Ryan Tannehill (QB25) - A season ago, we all thought of Tannehill as this surefire back-end QB1 after his top-10 finish in 2020. He did alright in 2021 but finished as just the QB15 on a points per game (PPG) basis. Now he's going to have to do it without A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, and instead build chemistry with a whole new group of pass-catchers (Robert Woods, Treylon Burks, and Austin Hooper). In games played without AJB last season, Tannehill averaged just shy of 15 fantasy points per game. If this Titans team is going to compete this season, it's going to be on the back of Derrick Henry.

Others I'm Avoiding: Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Carson Wentz
