PGA DFS DraftKings Pivots: Sleepers and Value Picks - AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Hello RotoBallers, my name is Rob Giltner and in this article, you will find my top PGA DFS Pivots for DraftKings and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. I am excited to join RotoBaller and assist in any way possible to help make us all some money in DFS!

Pivoting can be easily defined as shifting from a highly owned golfer to a less owned golfer at a similar price point. Pivoting helps create leverage in DFS. Leverage allows us to gain an advantage over the field in GPPs.  This Leverage increases our chances to win a tournament. In GPP DFS, we are competing with thousands of other entries. Pivoting and creating leverage helps separate ourselves from these other entries.

The separation allows us to maximize our chances of winning a GPP.  An example of this would be if golfer A is $9,000 and 30% owned, and golfer B is $8,900 and 10% -- we could pivot off golfer A and go to golfer B for the leverage. AT&T Pebble Beach: DFS Lineup Pivots  

Pivot Off Maverick McNealy ($9,800) to Kevin Kisner ($9,000)

In Maverick McNealy’s last two starts at this event, he has two top-five finishes. The Stanford Alum is very comfortable in the area. His family has a home in Monterrey and McNealy grew up playing the courses on the property regularly. Unfortunately for McNealy fans, he is currently projected as one of the top-owned golfers in the field. That is a tall order for a golfer that has not won yet on tour.

McNealy did finish in 30^th place last week in San Diego, but he struggled at times. McNealy lost strokes on approach and did not perform well off-the-tee. His scoring was helped by a hole-in-one in round three and 48ft eagle putt on his 72^nd hole. While he has not missed a cut since The Shriners, his current form is not ideal for a top-owned golfer.

2022 has been kind to Kevin Kisner. He opened the year with two straight top-ten finishes. Kisner is accustomed to gaining strokes with his putter, but it has been his iron play that how shown vast improvement. At The Sony Open, Kisner gained 3.2 strokes on approach, the most since he won the Wyndham. While Kisner does not have McNealy’s course history, he does have a top 10 finish at Pebble Beach in 2017. With Kisner’s current form he could easily outperform McNealy at an ownership and salary discount.

Pivot Off Matt Kuchar ($7,600) to Andrew Putnam ($7,600)

Matt Kuchar is surprisingly projected as the highest owned golfer in the $7,000 range. Kuchar recorded his first top-10 finish in almost two years at The Sony Open. In Hawaii, Kuchar excelled tee-to-green gaining 5.9 strokes. His play at The Sony is likely driving his ownership up. However, before the RSM Classic, Kuchar lost strokes off-the-tee in eight straight tournaments and struggled to find consistency. While Kuchar looks to have found some form, one tournament is too small of a sample size to take on his ownership number.

Andrew Putnam is currently projected to be in the single digits ownership-wise. The Pepperdine Wave product is known as a Poa putting specialist, as he ranks in the top 15 in the field in putting on Poa. Putnam has been very consistent to start the new year. At The Sony, Putnam gained strokes in all key metrics. In his last start at The American Express, Putnam gained 4.9 strokes tee-to-green and 3.9 on approach. If he continues his stellar ball striking, Putnam should contend at Pebble Beach.
