Trey Sermon Won't Play In Season Opener
Trey Sermon will be a healthy scratch for the Week 1 season opener against the Detroit Lions. This comes as a pretty big surprise heading into Week 1 matchups, as the first-year back wasn't on the injury report this week and is listed as the primary backup to Raheem Mostert on the depth chart. The only other running back on the active roster is JaMycal Hasty, so he figures to serve as the change-of-pace back behind Mostert to kick off the season. It's unclear what this means for Sermon's role moving forward, but fantasy managers obviously need to remove him from any starting lineups. Against a Lions defense that allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs, Mostert becomes an even safer RB2 play.
